May is Responsible Pet Ownership Month!
Join us as we celebrate an entire month dedicated to spreading awareness and educating the community about ways to provide the best care and attention for pets.

The City of Pickering's Animal Services has organized a variety of activities and events throughout the month of May in an effort to raise awareness about the need for pet owners to exercise their responsibility as caretakers of their pets and as members of the community. This includes Rabies & Microchip Clinics, Wildlife Talks, Adoption Days and more!

6th Annual Petapolooza - Pickering's Pet Trade Show
Join us on Saturday, May 13th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm as we bring together pet enthusiasts within our community for a fun-filled, pet-friendly event! Meet professionals in the industry, rescue groups, and many more.

Admission is $5, with free admission for seniors 55+, children under 12, and pets. All proceeds will go towards helping us build a permanent animal shelter.

The very talented Woofjocks Canine All-Stars present an exciting, educational, and fun variety show at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.


Responsible Pet Ownership Drawing Contest
Do you have a child who would like to be a vet when they grow up? If so, have them enter our Responsible Pet Ownership Month Drawing Contest for a chance to win an opportunity to be a veterinarian for a day at Pickering Animal Hospital!
The contest is open to anyone from Durham Region who is 12 years old and under.

The cost is $20 each for a rabies vaccination and a microchip. There are two dates and locations for your convenience:

Tabby Cat
On Saturday, May 20 from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, speak with Animal Services staff from Whitby, Oshawa, and Pickering, and learn what they do on a daily basis!
 
Adopt a pet, purchase a pet licence, learn how to safely secure your dog in a vehicle, visit the children's activity station, wildlife education show, and more!
