Odds and Sods
The Minna no Evangelion Fan blog posted images of the 18.5-meter (61-foot) long figure of the Neon Genesis Evangelion character Rei Ayanami on Wednesday. A team built and inflated the figure outside of the NTV Tower in the Shiodome area of Tokyo as part of the "Shiohaku Expo 2012" summer amusement event. The figure features a slide that attendees can slide down during the event.

Yen Press announced a number of new manga series as well as a graphic novel adaptation of Ransom Riggs' #1 New York Times bestseller Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Yen will publish a single-volume graphic novel adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children in 2013. The manga series announced by Yen at Comic-Con include BTOOM!, a debut manga series from Junya Inoue about an online game play who suddenly wakes up in a real life version of the game that was originally published in the seinen anthology Weekly Comic Bunch. Yen is also prepping a one-volume graphic novel adaptation of Brent Weeks' bestselling epic fantasy novel, Way of the Shadows, for release in 2013.
They also announced a digital exclusive for 'Welcome to the Erotic Bookstore', but that does help us out any.
Namco Bandai Games has confirmed with ANN that its July 26 Japanese Blu-ray Disc release of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? film will have changes from the film's original 1984 version. The Cho Jiku Yosai Macross: Ai, Oboete Imasu ka Hybrid Pack will contain two versions of the film, a "Complete Edition (HD Remaster Edition)" and the "Theatrical Release Edition," which the viewer can select between. Both versions in the Hybrid Pack will have changes from film's original 1984 version. According to Namco Bandai, the two Hybrid Pack versions both have shots altered as part of the retakes and restoration under the supervision of director Shoji Kawamori. The Blu-ray Disc release is called a "Hybrid Pack" since it also contains a PlayStation 3 game, My Boyfriend's a Pilot 2012.
I love this movie folks - probably more than any other Anime. When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and marry Misa. Yeah, seriously. It's too bad Big West will probably NEVER be able to put together a deal for DYRL to be released over here. ~sigh~ We've been bugging them about it for years, but I suppose all those years in court with Harmony Gold have soured them on the US market. Of course, if they ever did I could never accept any English V/A for Misa except for Melanie MacQueen anyway... :-)
Discotek Media revealed on Tuesday that it acquired "a never before released in the U.S. [Lupin III] special." Discotek revealed the acquisition at the end of its announcement of the separate license for Lupin III: The Secret of Mamo. Discotek will announce the title of the Lupin III special "later this year."
Discotek is doing a good job salvaging these old titles. They have a lot to choose from.
CAPCOM video game producer Yoshinori Ono hinted at further developments in the Darkstalkers franchise at a CAPCOM panel at San Diego Comic-Con last Thursday. At 2010's panel, Ono joked for fans to wave cash in the air if they'd like to see more Darkstalkers. However, this year, Ono stated that the fans "don't need to do that now" - adding that this isn't necessarily bad news.
Um, yes, we'll take that cash instead please... -_^
