The Gift of Giving

A Call for a Special Thanksgiving Offering
Sunday morning, November 27

  • For the general ministry budget:

Let me take this opportunity to say "thank you" from the bottom of my heart for your faithful giving this past year to the general budget. As we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas holy days, I would like to ask each member to consider a financial gift above your regular giving (tithe) to the budget. This would be an expression of thanks to Our Lord for the great things He is doing here at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. It would be wonderful to end our year actually meeting the goal of our 2016 church budget. Give as the Lord has enabled you according to your income and I thank you in advance for your obedience in this matter.

  • 2016 WEEK OF PRAYER
FOR
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
December 4-11, 2016

Also, don't forget to set aside money for our annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Our goal this year, as it was last year, is $10,000. If you recall, we surpassed that goal last year and I believe we can do it again! Our missionaries count on the local churches back home to do all they can in support of The Great Commission. Let's not let them down. In addition to your financial gift, PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO PRAY FOR THEM!

With love,
Your Pastor,
Pastor Lentine

November is National Family Caregivers Month

The Retreat, Council on Aging of West Florida's adult day care center, offers a stimulating day experience for older adults with physical and cognitive impairments. Family caregivers gain peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in a safe place while they go off to work or get much needed respite. To arrange a tour, call 850-266-2503.

10 Tips for Family Caregivers

1.   Seek support from other caregivers. You are not alone!
2.   Take care of your own health so that you can be strong enough to take care of your loved one.
3.   Accept offers of help and suggest specific things people can do to help you.
4.   Learn how to communicate effectively with doctors.
5.   Caregiving is hard work so take respite breaks often.
6.   Watch out for signs of depression and don't delay getting professional help when you need it.
7.   Be open to new technologies that can help you care for your loved one.
8.   Organize medical information so it's up to date and easy to find.
9.   Make sure legal documents are in order.
10. Give yourself credit for doing the best you can in one of the toughest jobs there is!

NOTE: The next meeting of the Caregivers Support Group will be January 26, 2017, at 9am in Fellowship Hall.

The 2017 Contribution Envelopes are available on a table in the Fellowship Hall and are arranged in alphabetical order. If you are unable to find yours, please contact Cami Simmons.
