DELRAY ART LEAGUE MEMBERS


We invite you to participate in our special new members' exhibit at the Delray City Hall Gallery. This is not a juried exhibit and there is no entry fee.

You can submit 3 to 5 pieces of art work. NOTE: Depending on the amount of ART  from our new members that wish to exhibit, I may need to limit the amount of art that we can accept. I want to give all of you an opportunity to be included.

This special New Member Art Exhibit will be from Wednesday, May 31st to Friday, September 1st.

Please contact via email letting me know of your desire to be included in this exhibit and also let me know how many pieces of art you would like to have exhibited - and I will get back to you soon,

The pick up day and time for the Crest Theatre Exhibit of the Delray Art League's art is:

• Day: Monday - February 27th - 
• Time: 10am to Noon

WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOU ARRIVING EARLIER RATHER 
THAN LATER TO PICK UP YOUR WORK. 
If you are unavailable, please make arrangements with someone and provide 
them with signed written authorization to provide to us.

Note: There is no storage provided for art that is not picked up and the Delray Art League and the Crest Theatre Gallery will not be responsible for any art not picked up!

NOMINATING COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED:

If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, please contact Kathi Stamm - kathistamm@comcast.net.  

The following Officers will end their two year terms on April 2017:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary.  

                                           Article VII – Election of Officers
Section 1. Any Exhibiting, Family, Friend or Honorary member may run for office or be eligible to serve as a Director. Terms of Officers shall be for two years. At the end of each two year term a nominating committee of three members shall be appointed by the Board of Directors from members at large in January. The nominating committee shall accept and make nominations for officers. The slate of officers shall be available for inspection at the February meeting.  The members and the nominating committee may make additions or modifications to the slate no later than March 1st, preceding the election.
 
Section 2. The nominating committee shall present the final slate of Officers at the March meeting; those candidates being President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The person with the highest number of votes shall be deemed elected by the members present at the meeting. If there is a tie for any office, a run-off election shall be held immediately. 

Section 3. New officers will be installed in April. 

ATTENTION PHOTOGRAPHERS:

The DAL has need for good photos of our outdoor shows and indoor exhibitions to be used for publicity, particularly for our basic brochure and website. If you are participating in a show or visiting a show the DAL would appreciate your taking some photographs. We would like photos that emphasize the quality and popularity of our shows and exhibitions.

An ideal photo of our Artists in the Park would see 3 or more tents with lots of people obviously interested in the work and enough of a background to know its in a park. An ideal photo of our indoor exhibitions would see multiple pieces of art on the wall(s) (not City Hall) with lots of people interested.

VOLUNTEER JUDGES NEEDED:

The Delray Art League has the honor of judging this year's Delray Affair which will be the weekend of April 7th, 8th and 9th.  I will be heading up the judging committee and need volunteer judges in the following areas; 2D, 3D and Jewelry. I will be looking for 3-4 judges per category.  You must be available all day on Friday April 7th.  A hospitality tent will be available for food, water and a lunch break and restrooms.  This will be a long day and a lot of walking is required so please be advised of this before submitting your interest to me.  I have spoken to a few people who have expressed interest in judging the event so will those people please formally reply to me now to be considered for the committee. Please email  me by March 1st.   Feel free to call me with any questions you may have but once we get the committee together we will hold a general meeting to cover all details. Classes:

Classes in Beginning Watercolors at OSS - Term 4 at the Delray Center For the Arts (Old School Square) will soon be starting in March and the school is now accepting open registration. Manny Jomok will be teaching two classes, Beginning Watercolors, on Wednesdays, 0900-1200 and 1:00-4:00pm. The classes will be 7 weeks in duration. Anyone interested or if you know of someone who might be interested, please contact the school at 561-243-7922. Thank you!

Deb LaFogg Docherty is teaching two classes in pastel at Old School Square on Wednesdays. 1-4pm and 6:30-9pm. 

Pastel Painting classes will be taught by Lorrie B Turner.  All classes are ongoing, atelier style at Boca Studio on Wednesday mornings – 9:30 -  12 noon.  Call Lorrie for more information- 561-272 0383.

Oil painting classes at Gay Williamson's home studio from 9:30 a m to 1:30 p m  on Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. Call Gay at 732-4945 for info.

OUTDOOR SHOWS:

Artists who  wish to do the outdoor shows and they have not paid their $ 30.00 insurance please get in touch with me Linda Greenwald . Artists cannot come out until you have paid and the paperwork has been sent. Please, you must also read the rules.

ALL PEOPLE'S DAY DIVERSITY FESTIVAL:

If anyone is interested in manning a booth on behalf of the Delray Art League, for ALL PEOPLE'S DAY DIVERSITY FESTIVAL’S indoor event held at Pompey Park in Delray Beach, on Sat. March 18, 2017, please email Fran Goodman franspaintbox@yahoo.com ASAP,  and I will send you the registration form.

You would need to create a fun Diversity/Issue based activity (an art project, interactive game, etc.)  You may also display information about the league.

This is a great opportunity to bring awareness to the public to scores of people. Last year attendance was 800, and Susan Berkowitz, founder, expects to increase that number substantially this year.

Anyone exhibiting at a Gallery, or doing a Show, or in an Exhibit, or having an Event or just received an Award, please email me your good news for inclusion in the Delray Art League’s next Ri cki Report article.

Please reply with a brief announcement written as you would like to see it in print.  NO more than one paragraph and NO pictures. However, you may provide a link to an http, website or facebook if available.
