Understanding Health Leave of Absence

For students  bronze-medicine-symbol.jpg whose health is impacting their academic performance, the Graduate School offers a health leave of absence.  This leave allows students to "stop the clock" on their academic responsibilities while taking care of their health.

FAQ

If I have a health issue, do I have to take a health leave of absence (HLOA)?

Absolutely not!  The only person who can request a HLOA is you!

I'm an international student, can I take a health leave?

Yes.  International students on health leaves may remain in the United States legally while getting treatment for up to a year. Discuss your plans with the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO).
