The Art of Getting Lost

Sometimes we have to get utterly lost and confused before we can see through our assumptions, fears, even commitments to discover a new way of being in the world. Come and 'get lost' as Rev. Luton demonstrates how.

Speaker: Rev. Peter Luton

“The Best of Broadway”
What a show! Full house, good time for all and $625 in the bank for SUUF.

Thank you Kathleen Roche-Zujko and all of you who helped to make this a rousing success.
Last Sunday the congregation shared a glimpse of what each of us believe - wearing a T-shirt with an image or message proclaiming our faith, philosophy, theology, community commitments, or ethical outlook. Thank you Sally Riggers and all the "guest speakers" for this interesting service.

The Spiritual Brain – Science and Religious Experience Class at SUUF   Due to technical difficulties we were not able to present lecture 24, "Reality and Beyond" last Sunday. It will be presented this Sunday, June 17.

There will be no Spiritual Brain class in August. We will resume in September.

There will be 30 minute lectures followed by 15 minutes of discussion. The lectures are on DVD's  For more information, contact Nancy Miller 425-754-6138 or [email protected]

Topic:  There are some fascinating things that arise from our brain’s interaction with the world around us. For one, we almost always think or act as if we have a clear idea of what reality is. Furthermore, we almost always first assume that when reality does not work the way we expect it to, it is the fault of reality – not us. Only when we have a lot of evidence that reality is okay, do we then start to think that our brain may be the problem.

Class Title-Why do we have a spiritual brain? Lecturer: Andrew Newberg, MD director of research at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA.
Please reserve August 19 for a summer church picnic. We'll skip the service this one time and meet at Washington Park in Anacortes starting at 11:00 am. Details will be coming about the menu... but it will be a potluck and bar-b-que.

J une 24 – Congregation only
Working together. Looking forward.

The recent survey was Step 1.
Today is Step 2: small group brainstorming about service ideas and content, developing lists of potential speakers, and kicking around how our congregation can continue to inspire, enlighten and add value to our spiritual lives, both personally and as a united church family. A 2018-19 church year calendar will be available to see where your involvement is most needed, and then we'll celebrate with a BBQ and potluck!
