Dear ,

The Autism Society of Greater New Orleans is excited to announce its first ever Family Game Night beginning January 9, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Slidell Memorial Hospital Wellness Pavilion/Community Outreach Center. Family Game Night will be an opportunity for children on the spectrum and their siblings to not only have fun but to learn while they are having fun. It will also be an opportunity for parents to mingle and network with other parents.

Family Game Night will be held on the following Fridays:

January 9, February 6, March. 6, April 3,
May 1, June 5, and July 10, 2015
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
SMH Wellness Pavilion/Community

Outreach Center (2nd Flr. Conf. Rm.)
501 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA 70458

There will be an assortment of games with varying levels of physical activity, e.g., board games, interactive games, scavenger hunts, one-on-one, two-person or multi-player games. And there will be a variety of volunteers playing the games along with the children to assist with game instructions, rules, and modeling how to play the games appropriately.

While there will be a lot of fun to be had playing games, your child's development will benefit as well. For instance, playing board games can enhance a child's math, reading, knowledge, fine motor, and cognitive skills. Game playing can also greatly enhance a child's social skills as well, including taking turns, engaging in appropriate behavior, and dealing with winning and losing. Children also learn patience, how to follow rules, and play fair while playing games. And there will even be an opportunity for siblings who are not on the spectrum to socialize and network with their peers.

So come out and join us in playing lots of games and have loads of fun!

Sincerely,

Kathy Dwyer
Administrative Assistant
