Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with excitement that I announce that "Glory Days: A Bruce Springsteen Symposium" will take place September 14-16, 2012 at Monmouth University in West Long Beach, New Jersey. This symposium is being offered again due to the success of the 2005 and 2009 symposiums that combined has attracted more than 550 participants from all over the world, and due to the interest of many of you to see this program offered again.

As many of you know, I left Virginia Tech in June 2011 and am now the associate provost for Outreach and Engagement at the University of Southern Indiana. USI is proud to work with Monmouth University and Penn State Altoona in offering the 2012 symposium.

Before I continue with more details about the symposium, if you wish to be removed from this email list, please click on the SafeUnsubscribe link at the bottom of this email for instant removal.

For those wishing for more details on the symposium, here are some essential details:

1.    The symposium web site can be accessed at www.usi.edu/glorydaysCheck back often to this site for details regarding speakers, performers, and agenda updates.

2.    Proposals are now being accepted for presentations to the symposium! For more information on symposium rubrics/tracks and to access the abstract management system, please visit the abstract section of the symposium web site.

Important things to consider:

  • The deadline for submitting a proposal is April 30, 2012.
  • You will know if your proposal has been accepted no later than June 1, 2012.
  • You can expect, in most cases, that a presentation will be grouped with two other presentations to form a 90-minute session. Presenters should plan on 15-20 minute presentations with 10-15 minutes of Q&A.
  • All presenters accepted to present are expected to register and pay the registration fee.
  • For questions regarding content of submissions, you can contact me at mcbernhard@usi.edu.
  • For questions about logistics or the mechanics of the abstract management system, please contact Kim Armstrong, administrative associate at University of Southern Indiana, at kaarmstron@usi.edu.

3.    If you have an interest in presenting a general session (a session in front of all conference participants), please email me as soon as possible. I'm actively pursuing keynote presenters now, but would like to hear from you if you have a session or have an idea for a session/speaker(s) I should consider for a general session.
