Announcing NYSCA/GHHN Grant Partnerships
NYSCA/GHHN Conservation Treatment Grant Program

In a continued partnership with the Greater Hudson Heritage Network, NYSCA offers grants of up to $7,500 for treatment procedures by professional conservators to aid in stabilizing and preserving objects in collections of museums and cultural organizations across New York State. 
Eligible museums must not have a conservator on staff for the treatment requested. Full details are available at  www.greaterhudson.org .

NYSCA/GHHN Collection Needs Assessment Program

Following in the footsteps of an Institute of Museum and Library Services-funded program, and in partnership with the Greater Hudson Heritage Network (GHHN), NYSCA will offer  two opportunities for collections support.  Supplies:  museums can request up to $750 for the purchase of needed collections management supplies and  Site Assessment:  allows a museum to bring a collections consultant for a half-day site visit for a collections-related topic. NYSCA/GHHN 
Creativity Incubator

Look at your collections in a whole new way! Launching in 2017, the Creativity Incubator will encourage museums to test out experimental interpretive approaches. Three sessions will be held in 2017 - one each in Long Island, Hudson Valley and Central New York. Sites will be determined by a social media campaign, and each location will feature a hands-on workshop led by innovative thinkers in the field. N YSCA Museum Program Professional Development Grants

This revised opportunity will be offered in partnership with CNY Arts. Starting in early 2017 staff from museums and museum service organizations are encouraged to seek funds to travel to conferences or workshops within New York State, for registration fees for an out-of-state conference or workshop, for online courses, in-state travel for research or to view exemplary programs and exhibitions. Maximum awards will be $750 and application information will be made available in January 2017.

New York Council of Nonprofits Membership

Will your museum receive a NYSCA grant in 2017? If so, did you know with that grant comes a membership to the New York Council of Nonprofits? In addition, your museum is eligible for up to four (4) free hours of technical assistance (and possibly more depending upon the particular situation) on nonprofit management issues including legal/compliance issues, fiscal, board governance, strategic planning and much more. If you are not a NYSCA grantee, you can still take advantage of NYCON's resources by becoming a member. More information is available at www.nycon.org .
 

Preserve NY

Preserve New York (PNY) is a signature grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts and the Preservation League of New York State. Launched in 1993, Preserve New York provides support for historic structure reports, cultural landscape reports, cultural resource surveys, and building condition reports. Applicants must be a non-profit or unit of local government with a focus on arts and cultural organizations.  Awards range from $3,000 to $10,000. Technical Assistance Grants

Grants of up to $3,000 are available to non-profit arts and cultural groups, and municipalities managing historic sites, museums, arts facilities and other culturally important institutions that are located in historic buildings and structures open to the public.
