Dear SDA Membership,                                     September 16, 2015

We are very pleased to announce that Danielle Kelly has agreed to serve as SDA's next executive director  starting October 12.

Danielle is currently executive director of the
in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA)
. She has over 7 years experience at the helm of a non-profit organization with 30 staff members. During that time, the museum grew from a curated collection to a stand-alone facility - recently voted Las Vegas' most popular local museum.

Her experience includes:
  • fiscal management and a solid track record growing a new museum through a devastating economic downturn
  • innovative program development to create strong, healthy ongoing income streams
  • focus on marketing
  • collaborative management style with extensive experience managing board, staff and volunteers
  • awareness of current challenges to stay competitive and expand audiences
Danielle received her MFA in sculpture from the University of Nevada/Las Vegas. She is a seasoned writer and, when she has the time, her current studio practice includes textile-based forms that feed her passion about our medium and its place in the contemporary art world.

As we communicate our excitement about SDA's incoming ED to you, our valued members, we also acknowledge the huge gift of time and talent that outgoing SDA Executive Director Diane Sandlin has given our association. For someone who just wanted to "give back" to a nonprofit, she has dedicated 3-1/2 years of exceptional leadership, vision and financial oversight to SDA.

Please join us in expressing a heartfelt thank you to Diane for all she has done (and will continue to do) until she steps down on October 11.
