April is finally here, and it looks like Spring may finally come to northwest Ohio! The trees are getting hints of green, the snow piles are almost melted, perennials are peeking through the earth, and we only have a few weeks to get ready for our season closer, Neil Simon's Proposals. If you have been by the theatre, you know we have our work cut out for us. The front lawn is in quite a state since some parking issues during The Liar coupled with a few warm days to dig some deep ruts, and make a muddy mess. Not to worry, though, all should be ship-shape by May.

If you were at The Liar then you already know about our 58th Season, and the great variety that we have in store for you. If you missed it, then I'm happy to tell you that all of the details are in this email along with a special offer for renewing subscribers! Brochures will be available at Proposals. We also announced that our Upton Players will be diving into the pages of fairy tales when they present Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods in July. If you know (or are) a 16-22 year old thespian, then mark the calendar for auditions on May 10 & 11.

Be sure to Like and Share us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter or Google+ so that you get all of the announcements between emails. There are lots of projects going on 'backstage,' upcoming auditions, show dates, and a host of other notices that get out to the social media before we send email. Besides, you can give us your instant feedback on how we're doing, and what you would like to see at The Village.

We'll see you at the show,

Jake Gordy, President
The Village Players Theatre
Proposals
May brings summer in the Poconos to our stage with Neil Simon's 30th play, Proposals. With some of Simon's typical hilarity peppered throughout, it is more dramatic than most of his other work.

It's the summer of 1953, and Burt Hines is recuperating at the family retreat after his second heart attack. His daughter, Josie, has broken an engagement and is waxing nostalgic for a previous fling who shows up unexpectedly attached. We hear the story through the words and eyes of Clemma, the family's housekeeper who is happy to let parts of the past stay in their rightful place. But some memories just won't stay where they belong.

The awesome cast consists of Mary Taylor, Larry Farley, Megan Beckett, Jon Masters, Connor Gavin, Maryjo Gavin, Zac Gilley, Heather Bartlett, & Charles Crockett

Proposals will run May 9-24. Tickets are available on our website.

Upton Players go Into the Woods
We're thrilled to announce the return of The Upton Players this summer, after last year's wildly successful production of Anything Goes! In July, we'll present Stephen Sondheim's fairy tale masterpiece, Into the Woods. This is the full presentation of the show, not the junior version, and it needs a strong & talented cast. On May 10 & 11, we'll be auditioning actors and actresses age 16-22. Sara Speelman will be returning as director with help from Laura Crawford as assistant director, and Sarah Dusseau as musical director. They are already hard at work on the schedule, set, and all of the details that go into a production.

More information about the show will be posted on the website in the coming weeks, or watch Facebook for updates as well. If you have any questions, please email us.
