Chinese New Year Banquet Breaks Records!
On March 3rd, 550 guests attended our 29th annual Chinese New Year Banquet. Thanks to the Banquet Committee and our generous sponsors, table hosts, and guests, this sold-out event broke an all-time fundraising record, totaling over $380,000 to support our family-centered services! This year, we awarded participants, Djilali Chaker and Elizabeth Do, for their successes, and volunteers, Dora Hui, Denis & Stella Tam for their service. Women Grow Their Child Care Career

Xiao Ling and Cai Ting from Urban College of Boston and Lani from Bunker Hill Community College received paid internships with BCNC to work as a ssistant teachers in our Center for Early Education and Care. Thanks to funding from BNY Mellon, interns participate in all aspects of teaching including interacting with children and families, assisting teachers with curriculum development and activity preparation, and learning how to assess children and develop respectful team partnerships.
Winter Fun for BCNC Children

BCNC children took part in the Highland Street Foundation's Winter Camp 2017, which offers free activities for children and families during February school vacation week. BCNC children saw Disney on Ice, went ice skating at Boston Common's Frog Pond, and enjoyed a performance at the Boston Children's Theatre.


Parent Nutrition Workshops in Quincy

BCNC Quincy kicked-off a parent nutrition workshop series, "CHOICES - Steps Toward Healthy Living." The workshop series is taught by Keryn LeBlanc, a nutrition educator at UMass Extension Program. Throughout the series, parents will learn about the value of nutrition, discuss how to eat well-balanced meals, and participate in hands-on cooking activities. 


BCNC Portraits: Nicole Smith

In honor of AmeriCorps Week, we are celebrating Nicole Smith, Citizenship Class teacher. Nicole is an AmeriCorps Member through the New American Integration Program, a program designed to  assist immigrants and refugees gain economic stability and participate fully in our society through learning English, applying for citizenship, job readiness training, and accessing community services.  Nicole says, "My favorite thing about BCNC is the people.  I've never had such supportive, enthusiastic, and kind supervisors, colleagues, and students, and it is a joy to come in a see them every day."
