Formerly the Vice President of QNX Cloud at QNX Software, the Vice President of Developer Relations for BlackBerry, the co-founder and former CEO of VoIP startup iotum Corporation, and the author of Saunderslog.com, Alec started writing to help other entrepreneurs and business people learn about the Voice over IP space, and to pass along some of the product management and marketing knowledge that he has accumulated over his career.
At Microsoft, Alec was instrumental in the launch of every major operating system through the 90's, including managing the launch of the first versions of Internet Explorer. He also grew the Canadian share of Developer Tools from 29% to 75% and managed the most successful launch of the MS-DOS 6 Upgrade globally.
Alec then co-founded to Iotum, an award-winning telecom startup where I secured $3.5 million in funding, achieved 25% per quarter revenue growth, and co-authored 13 patent applications with 3 granted to date. At this early stage venture, he was responsible for all aspects of strategy including product vision, product roadmap, product positioning, commercialization and customer enablement.
