Anthony Stover Returns for Second Season !

October 6, 2016 - Saint John, NB – Saint John Pro Basketball today announces the signing of defensive specialist Anthony Stover for the 2016-2017 season.

Stover, a 6’10” Center and UCLA Bruin, played in Saint John last season. He holds the league record for blocked shots in a season at 152, 10 of those in a single game. He was named the NBL Canada Defensive Player of the Year and named to the league’s All Defense team for the 2015- 2016 season. 

“I am very excited to be back with the team this season, I am looking forward to joining Double A and playing for Coach Spon,” added Stover, “I love Saint John. It’s a great place to play, the fans appreciate good basketball.”  

“It drives us to play for them. To win a championship for the city.” 

“Being able to protect the rim effectively with a talent like Anthony gives us a great advantage heading into the new season.” said Rob Spon, Coach and General Manager. “Quality centers like Anthony are very rare in this league. We are thrilled he decided to return.”
