Leader's Weekend 2013: Put it on Your Calendar!
All GSMH volunteers are invited to attend "Leader's Weekend: Windows to the Past" on Friday, April 12 - Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Finbrooke Program Center.
On the agenda: fun, friendship and learning! Come for the whole weekend, or just a few workshops. Leadership workshops might include games, crafts, songs, relaxation, cooking, and more! Our Leader's Weekend committee is still accepting volunteers to help with the planning process. If you are interested in being a part of the planning, join us at our next meeting on November 5 at 6:30 pm in the Springfield Service Center Training Room or contact Melody Hutchison.
If you have a skill, talent, or great resource to share with Girl Scout volunteers, we'd love to have you facilitate a workshop. Complete the Leader's Weekend Presenter Application and submit it by November 2 to Melody Hutchison, Leadership Learning Specialist - Volunteerism, at mhutchison@girlscoutsmoheartland.org. If you have any questions, call Melody at 877-312-4764 x1122.

Property Use and Reservations for Fall/Winter
It's already October and it's a great time to get out of doors. The fall camping season is well under way at all of our GSMH program centers, but that does not mean we are full to capacity. Please email Sandy Vaughn, property/risk manager, at svaughn@girlscoutsmoheartland.org to see which dates are available for each property. She will do her best to accommodate your troop or service unit. Don't want to camp overnight? No problem! There is lots of room for day activities such as hot dog roasts, hiking, exploring, mountain biking, nature crafts, hay rides and so much more. Some of the rangers can facilitate other activities such as wood carving, archery, fishing, and more. Hurry! Many of our program centers will be shut down and winterized soon: Cherokee Ridge - Closed October 27-28 for deer season and November 10-25 for deer season and Thanksgiving holiday. Are You Registered?
The 2012-2013 Girl Scout year kicked off on October 1! If you or your girls are not registered for the new year, there are several easy ways to submit your forms:
- Registration forms may be mailed or walked in to any GSMH service center.
- If you are paying with a credit card, you may also email or fax your completed registration form.
- Your membership marketing specialist can pick up your registration forms and give you a receipt at a service unit meeting or event.
Girls who are not re-registered are not covered by our secondary insurance, will not receive council mailings, and may not participate in the fall product program that starts on November 1. So make sure to get those forms in soon!

THE GIRL SCOUT PATHWAY NEWS
Travel Pathway: Does Your Girl Dream of Traveling?
Girl Scout destinations can take your girl on the adventure of a lifetime! Destinations are travel experiences that range from two days to three weeks and are available for Girl Scout Cadettes and older. There are a variety of exciting opportunities for girls to choose from. Girls who love science may want to check out "Space Academy" in Huntsville, Alabama, or a thrill-seeking girl might like "Vegas Lights Thru Teenage Girl Scout Eyes" in Las Vegas. More experienced travelers might be interested in the "Scuba and Sea Turtle Adventure" in Costa Rica!
To see what exciting opportunities are available, go to http://www.girlscouts.org/forgirls/travel/destinations/event. To apply for a destination, girls should complete a destination application form, and reference forms, and submit them to Stefanie McCall, Leadership and Learning Specialist - GSLE by November 15.
