A WORD FITLY SPOKEN..........
Let that phrase resonate in your head for a moment, PLEASE- SELAH!
It is a somewhat chilly morning for us down south in McDonough, GA.
68 DEGREES!!!! Time to don socks under our flip-flops!!!!
I AWOKE (PTL for awakening AGAIN) yesterday-how can I say this?-a wee bit tired and discouraged.
I well know people want and hope and expect us preachers and "leaders" to ALWAYS be strong and courageous, but...........
Amanda's wonderful nurse has been absent for a full week and once again I was to bear the care for Amanda-AGAIN!!!!
Yesterday was her nurse's scheduled day off.
I had been home bound for 6 whole days and weary of my own cooking-I longed for just a little respite.
Can you say, "feeling sorry for myself!?"
I had not even left the house in days and had not even walked to the end of my driveway to collect Monday's snail mail.
As I carried the trash to the end of the yard, I retrieved the mail and was pleasantly surprised to see a letter from my son Joshua.
Proverbs 25:11 (KJV)
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
It TRULY was "A WORD FITLY SPOKEN!!!!!"
He headed his letter with a quote, (Unknown to him I had just quoted the same quote in my latest sermon):
''Most of us are where we are for a very good reason.
This is our post which has no one to hold it but us.
If we abandon it, we discover that it is something in ourselves we abandon.
Just keeping on, through the most hopeless aspect of keeping on, may be the important act of one's career.
The last dejected effort often becomes the winning stroke!"
His letter further read:
"Dad and Mom,
I have enclosed a great article. It made me think of ya'll.
You are RIGHT WHERE ya'll are supposed to be.
This is YA'LL'S POST in life right now-STAY PUT!!! KEEP FIGHTING!
I'm back in my dormitory.
This is MY post right now and I will not abandon it!
THANK YOU for ALWAYS loving me, supporting me-and NEVER leaving me!
I love ya'll.

And then I read the "ENCLOSED glossy article.
I wish I could reprint the whole article here and maybe I will ASAP.
It was clipped from the latest edition of ESPN magazine and entitled:
"FORWARD-BEING ERIC LEGRAND."
I was not familiar with his name but I was his story-A Rutgers football player who broke his neck on a kick-off and was instantly paralyzed from the neck down.
His story and Josh's letter was TRULY:

Sometimes, dear friends, all it takes is a simple SNAIL MAIL letter, an email, a smile or a text message, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY message on FB, a small gift and/or a pat on the back or much needed kick in the rear to change another day!
YOUR post may SEEM gloomy and drear, but hearing/reading about another POST can and does make US thankful for the POST we have!
It CAN get worse and that too quickly-AMEN!!??
