May 2017

Through our monthly newsletters, we have the opportunity to share outstanding initiatives in apprenticeship training taking across Canada.   Canada's Building Trades Mentorship Alliance is a collaboration between Canada's Building Trades Unions, NB-MAP and Mentorship Matters ™.  The group has produced a video highlighting the importance of mentors.

If you know of an innovative apprenticeship activity in your region, let us know at info@caf-fca.org.

2-Day Apprenticeship Workshop

Plan to join us on October 26 & 27 as CAF-FCA hosts a two-day workshop at the Delta City Centre in Ottawa. This event will focus on alternate delivery of apprenticeship technical training, including how new approaches are accommodating under-represented groups.  We want to discuss how apprenticeship training is adapting to technology trends and calls for diversity, while continuing to develop the highly-skilled tradespeople required by the Canadian economy.  2017's "can't miss" apprenticeship event!

Watch future newsletters for the full workshop agenda. Space will be limited - to receive event updates, sign up here.
National Youth Employment Conference
Youth + Jobs = Better Future

Building on regional workshops held earlier in the year, CAF-FCA is inviting youth from across Canada to participate in a discussion about youth employment and learn about the excellent opportunities in the skilled trades.  We will host a National Conference on Youth Employment on November 9, 2017 in Ottawa.

Youth are invited to share their ideas and strategies for overcoming youth unemployment and/or engaging young people in the skilled trades.  Twenty youth from across the country will be invited to the National Capital (travel and accommodation provided) to participate in the conference.
