Welcome to our fun and informative newsletter for the month of April!
We hope that you and your family had a relaxing Spring Break. We spent our "break" working hard to make various improvements around the studio, including some serious soundproofing on the rear part of the studio. The new walls are a vast improvement for isolating the sound coming from each teaching room, making the studio a more comfortable learning environment. We hope you enjoy it! If you're looking for soundproofing at your home or workplace, please contact us for details.
We reopened for regular lessons this week, and will remain open until the next holidays (as listed to the left). Upcoming closures include Easter Sunday (April 20th), May 4th and Memorial Day (May 26th). Why would we be closed on May 4th? I'm glad you asked...it is the next student performance opportunity!

We don't even really have to ask. We know you have little ones. Let the whole family join in on the fun of music making! Check out our two group programs for early childhood, designed to build a fantastic foundation in music!
Family Music Time - Ages 4 months to 4 years
A fun, musical, mixed-age, group experience designed to introduce the joys of daily music-making to children (and the caregivers who love them).
Thursdays at 11:30-12:15pm (45 minutes)
Starting April 10th (and ongoing)
$60 per month

Preschool Piano & Percussion (Triple P) - Ages 3 1/2 to 5
This exciting and unique program will introduce young children to a variety of important musical concepts that can later be applied to any instrument. Topics include learning the notes on a keyboard, recognizing pitch (high and low), playing basic rhythms and reading notes.
Class is limited to 4 students per session. Schedule is based on students' availability. Please email or call to register!

Congratulations to Christopher Dunbar!

Christopher Dunbar is one of our favorite "success stories in progress" - a hardworking and determined young musician who has grown immensely over the years. He first came to us as a shy beginning drummer back in 2011, and now he TOTALLY rocks out as the bassist for our longest standing student band. Did we even see him come to class in some sweet sunshades the other day? Rock on, Christopher!
Not only a budding rock star bassist, Christoper continues to pursue percussion, performing in the Advanced Band at Mendenhall (which recently received a score of 94 at the Delta Music Festival in Stockton). He also attended Silver Lake Band Camp over the summer as a percussionist. Last month, Christopher participated in a percussion trio (alongside fellow Music Time percussionist, Erich Groneberg) that was awarded a Command Performance in the Livermore Valley Solo and Ensemble Festival - an honor only given to 12 exceptional performers.
To round out the rock and roll lifestyle, Christoper plays bass in the Mendenhall Jazz Band. The group recently scored an impressive 90+ at the Campana Jazz Festival at Amador High School. Although already active in so many aspects of Music, Chris looks forward being a part of the Granada High School Music Program, ready to join the Drum Line, Jazz Band and Symphonic Band next Fall.

Teacher Feature
 For April, we would like to feature our latest groom, Timothy Garry, married on April 5th to Dafna Adler (the amazing woman responsible for the infamous concert goodies). Tim is one of our busiest teachers, working five full days a week to help his students learn voice, guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele (and even a little bit of piano and drums). Tim is also the fearless leader of our Rock Band program both at Music Time Academy and Arroyo Seco Elementary. Tim and Dafna's wedding was a colorful blend of Irish and Jewish traditions, coupled with a unique mix of music made from their various talented wedding guests. The ceremony music was led by Music Time instructor, Belinda Salvidge on violin. Music Time instructors Michael Solomon (guitar) and Judy (violin) followed with the soundtrack to cocktail hour. The post-dinner dancing kicked off with a few lively numbers from a rock band featuring Anna on drums and former instructor Chris Mahon on vocals. Hava Nagila (complete with Hora) followed shortly. And as if you thought the party couldn't get any better - the bride and groom even sang a duet of "Endless Love" together. Our congratulations and best wishes go out to the newlyweds!
