Get Ready for the Tennis Season
ELLEN GRAVES
Reston Association is saddened by the passing of its former president, Ellen Graves, who served on the association’s Board of Directors first as vice president and later as president before leaving the governing panel in 2017. Graves died Monday, April 9. “Ellen gave so much to our community,” said current RA President, Sherri Hebert. “She is a role model to all of us. She will be missed by all.”
RA ELECTION RESULTS
Four Winners Announced at Annual Meeting
The results of the month-long Board of Directors’ election were announced at the 2018 Annual Members' Meeting on Tuesday. Reston Association members elected a district director and three at-large directors to fill the four open seats.
The newly elected board members include the following:

  • Julie Bitzer, South Lakes District
  • Sridhar Ganesan, At-Large (3-year term)
  • Ven Iyer, At-Large (3-year term)
  • Andy Sigle, At-Large (1-year term)

Candidates Sought to Fill Vacant Board Seat
Reston Association’s Board of Directors is seeking candidates to fill the unexpired term of the Hunters Woods/Dogwood District Director seat. The term ends April 2019.
 
The Board of Directors determines the association’s goals and policies, making a significant and lasting contribution to our community.
 
To apply, candidates must:
 
  • Be residents of the Hunters Woods/Dogwood District.
  • Complete a Candidates Statement.
  • Meet with the Board of Directors to discuss your interest and qualifications for the position.
 
To be considered, your Candidate’s Statement must be received by the association no later than Friday, May 11, 2018, 5 p.m. Applicants will be interviewed by the board during its regular meeting on May 24.

Lake Anne Fellowship House Work Session
The proposed redevelopment for the Lake Anne Fellowship House will be reviewed at a work session with the Reston Design Review Board on Tuesday, April 17. The work session will occur one hour prior to the full DRB meeting, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Members of the community are welcome to observe the work session and learn more about the current redevelopment proposal.

Teen Job Fair Next Week in Reston
The Fairfax County Teen Job Fair and Resume Building Workshop will be held Saturday, April 21 at South Lakes High School in Reston. More than 40 potential employers, including Reston Association, will meet with job seekers (approximately 16-18 years old) at this event. The session runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students can pre-register online.

NWF Donates Tree Seedlings to Association
Reston Association recently received 100 tree seedlings from the National Wildlife Federation through its Trees for Wildlife Program. During an Arbor Day event earlier this month, Reston volunteers removed invasive shrubs in three different areas of Reston and then planted oak trees. Volunteers also planted a large Redbud tree, funded by the Trees Virginia Program, a private non-profit organization and Friends of Reston.
