Union County ELC with
Assemblyman Jamel Holley
Fri day, April 20, 2018
8:00 - 9:30 AM

Holiday Inn, Clark
36 Valley Road
Clark, NJ 07066

Assemblyman Jamel Curtis Holley, is a 1997 graduate of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, and is regarded as one of the most engaged young activists known throughout Union County.  Known for his spirited energy and focus, Assemblyman Holley has incorporated advocacy with accomplishment to improve issues important to Roselle residents and stakeholders. His demonstrated leadership has allowed him to bridge many gaps and foster relationships on issues such as preserving Roselle taxpayers' dollars, standing up for the creation of good government spending practices, supporting youth recreation, and preserving open space.
In 2002, Assemblyman Holley earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University, and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Kean University.
In 2005 Assemblyman Holley won the General Election for Councilman At Large in the Borough of Roselle.  He became the youngest Councilman in Union County at age 25.  Later that year, he was one of 40 people nationwide to be honored by The Network Journal Magazine for his achievements and his contributions to the African American community.  Assemblyman Holley was once again successful in his 2007 and 2010 election bid for Councilman At Large.  In 2011, Mr. Holley was elected Mayor and became the youngest Mayor ever elected in Roselle's 117th year history.
In January 2015, Assemblyman Holley was appointed to fill a seat in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 20th Legislative District which includes Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle, and parts of Union .  This appointment makes him the first African American to represent the 20th Legislative District in the legislature.  He has since been re-elected and serves on the Tourism, Gaming and Arts Committee as well as serving as Vice chair of the Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee.

"Every year we honor exceptional students who not only excel in school, but are also active community leaders," said Mayor Bollwage. "This organization has helped students achieve their higher education aspirations by making it easier to find essential funding for college. On behalf of the entire City, I wish them well in all their future endeavors and thank them for their commitment and dedication."

Spearheaded by Frank Cuesta, who is the President of the organization, a City of Elizabeth Councilman-At-Large as well as a former educator, Elizabeth's Promise Awards, Inc. is a non-profit, non-political, non-partisan organization. This year, organizers will award scholarship to over fifty (50) exceptional individuals and honor City of Elizabeth's Mayor J. Christian Bollwage as well as President of Kean University, Dr. Dawood Farahi.

This event celebrates the best and brightest within our community. The recipients of these awards display a strong work ethic and dedication to acquiring diverse knowledge as well as broadening their educational horizons through academic study. They are impressive young men and women, who convey an interest in providing help to others as well as positively impacting and making a difference throughout the community.

"I am proud to not only be able to help outstanding students from Elizabeth attend college with our Scholarship Program, but to also honor Mayor Bollwage and Dr. Farahi at this year's ceremony," said Councilman-At-Large Frank Cuesta. "Their leadership, commitment and persistence make them distinguished role models who have gained the respect of their communities. We are all thankful for their dedication and congratulate them on their achievements."

For twelve years, the Elizabeth's Promise Awards, Inc. has presented scholarships to focused and goal-oriented young people. As a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization, it provides the financial support students need to continue on their path to excellence. Since its inception, more than four hundred and fifty (450) scholarships have been awarded.

New Member Introductions and Messages
Meet New Member: Bawse Associates

Why choose Bawse Associates of Culture Estate to sell your home? You get the time and dedication of two passionate agents for the price of one. Bawse Associates is a collaboration of two real estate agents that want to make a difference in people's lives and help communities of different cultures by educating them in the biggest and most important purchase of their lives...a house. They put their hearts, passion and style into everything they do. They go above and beyond to find your dream home, investment property, or sell your current one. They think out-side-the-box and take action to get the job done strategically. Allow BAWSE ASSOCIATES of Culture Estate to show you how different we are.

Ana Graveto, at age 20, bought her first multi-family home that she lived in, renovated, then rented out for a positive cash flow while working full-time as a single mother. After several years of setting herself up financially, she moved to Florida where she lived for 4 years until the market crashed and her investments went down with it. She packed up everything and moved back to NJ where she rebuilt her life and her investments. Bouncing back from that loss has made her passionate about helping first-time homebuyers create wealth by educating them about financial health, real estate investing, and how to make their dreams a reality. Ana is organized, analytical, kindhearted, and modest. Her actions, above her words, will prove that you invested in the right person to take care of your future. She's real, she's resilient, and she's ready to show you how it's done.

Sophy Ramirez is a caring and amiable Real Estate expert with a heart of gold. Sophy is the type of agent that lets her clients know how important they are and assures them that she will always be there for them. She has developed a rather transparent style of conducting business, in a sense that she doesn't hide anything from her clients so that there is a complete sense of trust throughout the entire process. This impressive agent has much to offer to her clients, such as an abundance of knowledge and experience in all aspects of Real Estate including investing, short sales, and home buying. In addition, after devoting so much time and attention to her clients and building a great relationship, clients always have a hard time letting her go and want to keep in touch with her because she is more than just an impressive agent, she is an invaluable friend.
