New CPS Leadership Team

Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel announced the new leadership team for Chicago Public Schools.  Jean-Claude Brizard will lead the team as the Chief Executive Officer.  During his tenure as the Superintendent of the Rochester City School District in New York, test scores and graduation rates increased significantly and new partnerships with teachers and administrators vastly improved. 

Also named as new editions to the leadership team were:  Dr. Noemi Donoso (formerly of the Denver Public Schools) as the Chief Education Officer; Tim Cawley (formerly of the Academy for Urban School Leadership) as the Chief Operating Officer; and Diana Ferguson will continue in her role as Chief Financial Officer.

STEM Career Conference in May 2011

Our first annual STEM Career Conference will be held May 11-13th, 2011!   Project SYNCERE is looking for STEM Professionals to volunteer their time to speak with elementary school students about their success in their STEM fields at the following CPS Schools between  9:00am - 12:30pm:
  • Wednesday, May 11, 2011 -- Dunne Technology Academy, 10845 S. Union Avenue
  • Thursday, May 12, 2011 --  Miles Davis Magnet Academy, 6740 S. Paulina Avenue
  • Friday, May 13, 2011  -- Dumas Technology Academy,  6650 S. Ellis Avenue

If you are a STEM professional and would like to volunteer for this event or know of someone in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields, please complete the volunteer form and return it to us via email at:  volunteer@projectsyncere.org to secure your spot as one of our distinguished volunteer speakers. 

 
Project SYNCERE Scholarship Deadline June 1, 2011
In our mission to increase the number of minority, female and underserved students who pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Project SYNCERE will award scholarships to qualified applicants in good academic standing to those who pursue higher education in the STEM Fields.  To apply for the annual scholarship, please download and complete the application.  Applications must be postmarked by May 31, 2011.  Recipients will be notified by June 15, 2011.

graduation We are proud to announce that we are graduating our first high school class this year!  Five seniors from Perspectives Leadership Academy and Perspectives High School of Technology will be pursuing the following STEM Fields at the collegiate level:
