Sky Gardens E#2 - Cook+Fox Architects
Sky Gardens E#2 - Cook+Fox Architects

We're super excited to have premiered our Sky Gardens ~ Greenroofs of the World: The Cook+Fox Architects Office on Earth Day 2011.  The beautiful modular greenroof in Manhattan, NY, features Green Paks by Green Roof Blocks which is great because the client/owners actually had to replace the roof! I interviewed architect Mark Rusitzky, Rohit T. "Rit" Aggarwala, Former Director, Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability at the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York, Kelly Luckett, and others involved in this awesome project. Learn what NYC's doing and see how the greenroof fared after the re-roofing.  By the way, you can now watch YouTube videos on your DIRECTV

Just a few more days remain for the 2011 "Love the Earth, Plant a Roof!" Earth Day Photo Contest - you can still submit a photo of your favorite greenroof on our Facebook page and then tell all your friends to vote until Friday, April 29th.

Welcome to our newest Contributing Editor: John Shepley!  John has worked as an engineer, technical manager, business manager, and management consultant and in 2004, John co-founded Emory Knoll Farms, Inc. in Harford County, MD. Read the Green Business Editor's new column at right.

April features the Fish House in Singapore, by Guz Architects.  A modern tropical bungalow (2009) encapsulating the essence of living in the hot and humid climate of Singapore by creating open spaces, the design encourages natural ventilation and offers residents views to the ocean. The concept creates a close relationship with nature, achieved by the swimming- pool linking the house with the landscape and visual connections with the sea. Almost totally covered with thin bendable photovoltaic panels, the remaining area is used as a greenroof, also giving residents some outdoor leisure spaces.

The Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ series combines two of our most popular destinations on Greenroofs.com: The Greenroof & Greenwall Projects Database and Upcoming Events.
