We hope to see all of you at the next Continuum of Care Meeting on April 9th!  As part of our ongoing bi-county collaboration,  the Suncoast Partnership is pleased to announce that Turning Points will be providing services under the  Homeless Prevention Grant awarded to our organization through the Florida Department of Children and Families.  Although the grant is small ($16,066) and the timeline short (3 months), we believe that this project will be expanded in next year's state budget. Turning Points provided significant Match, and will provide needed case management, rental assistance and utility payments for18 Manatee County families at risk of homelessness.

With Spring comes the 2014 Florida legislative session.  There are several important pieces of legislation for us to follow which are outlined in the link below.  Challege Grant funding,  a sunshiine exemption for Homeless information, and CoC funding are all at stake.

2014 Florida Legislative Items on Homelessness

Federal studies have shown that TB rates are 10 times higher for people experiencing homelessness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that over half of the patients involved in TB outbreaks between 2010 - 2012 did not have a place to call home.
