2014 ROAD CONSTRUCTION SEASON BEGINS
Mohegan Ave./Kennesaw Ave. Project

The City's 2014 construction program will begin about the second week of April. The neighborhood consisting of Mohegan Ave. and Kennesaw Ave. will be rehabilitated this year. The work will include all new water mains, selected sewer upgrades, new sewer laterals for the majority of the homes, and new concrete street pavements. Portions of Oxford Dr. and Poppleton Ave. will also be rebuilt. Cone

During the month of April, seasonal weight restrictions will make heavy construction impractical. As a result, the contractor hired for this job will be completing work that does not require much trucking. Specifically, a new 18 inch diameter water main will be drilled into the ground along Mohegan Ave. It will extend from Adams Rd., and then extend west into Poppleton Park, all the way to Woodward Ave. Using a directional drill, most of the new water main will be installed without excavation. The work will limit the damage to the park, and allow the new main to be installed amongst two other pipelines, saving the mature trees on Mohegan Ave. Once the weight restrictions are done, excavations in the road will begin as well.

An email contact group has been set up to send information to all residents in the Mohegan and Kennesaw area.  Joining this group is the best way to stay informed about the upcoming construction project and how it affects you. Join today by visiting http://bit.ly/bhamnews and click on "Mohegan Ave. & Kennesaw Ave. Paving Project" under Email Lists.

Questions pertaining to the project can be directed to the Engineering Dept., at 248-530-1850.
