"The Arc of Greater Plymouth provides support to those in our community with intellectual disabilities. The Arc's wide range of services include shared living in family settings, respite care for families and providers when circumstances require, family support when loved ones situations can be overwhelming and even a food pantry for those in need. We support The Arc of Greater Plymouth for their hard work providing Care, Direction and Support to those in need in our community."

The theme of the 2015 Citizen Advisory Board Legislative Breakfast held March 20th at the Duxbury Council on Aging,  was "Funding Counts" and the  importance of  Family Support.

ARC SELF ADVOCATES SPEAK UP AT CAB LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST

Attendees Sen. Vinny Demacedo, Representatives Tom Calter and Josh Cutler as well as aides from Sen. Hedlund, Congressman Keating and U.S. Senators Markey and Warren's offices truly received a clear message that " Funding Counts"  and enriches real lives.

 

Eloquently delivering that message were a group of "Young Polished Professionals" (YPP) from The Arc of Greater Plymouth Employment Services Advisory Committee(AEAC), many of them also members of the Citizens Advisory Board for Plymouth Area Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Plymouth Area and State DDS Shared Living Awards Given To Elmer Mendes and Barbara Bousquet ; Charles and Suzanne Emerson  

This spring four Arc of Greater Plymouth individuals were given honorary awards at both  the Plymouth Area DDS Recognition event and The Massachusetts DDS Annual Recognition event at the State House.

Elmer Mendes is an 81 year old man and Plymouth celebrity who came to The Arc of Greater Plymouth seven years ago with significant support needs and health challenges. The confidence to expand our services to meet the complex needs that this special individual presented, truly came from Elmer himself and his desire to get his life back on track. In those seven years, Elmer has had a successful hip replacement, established control of his diabetes and accomplished sobriety - with a little help from his support staff Barbara Bousquet and for several years prior, Scott Atton, his friend and biggest fan, Exec.Director, Roger Monty, and the community connectors from The Arc Shared Living Program.  Read full article here...

We want to share a bit of good news with you. We are thrilled to announce that Kasey Bishoff who studied Baking and Pastry  at Johnson & Wales University in Providence RI. has been hired as our new Pastry Chef!

 

Kasey brings a wealth of experience to her new role as our new Pastry Chef and we are excited for her to share that experience with our clients.

We know that Kasey's dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction is very important to the "For Goodness Cakes Bakeshop" and its long term success. We know that Kasey has the ability to achieve this.

The next AFC Provider Meeting will be held April 29, 2015, at 10 Cordage Circle ,Suite 108.
  Dinner will be served at 6pm and presentation at 7pm.  Captain John Rogers of the Plymouth Police Department will be the speaker. His topic is Internet Safety.
