Saturday Sandwich Making
Happy Helpers for the Homeless
Date/Time: Every Saturday, 11:30am - 2pm, except April 9
Location: Happy Helpers Headquarters 1550 Caton Center Drive, Suite L, Halethorpe
Happy Helpers for the Homeless is an all-volunteer organization. Each weekend, they engage young people, their parents, and organizations in preparing food and goods for the needy. Volunteers are needed to make and bag sandwiches at Happy Helpers headquarters. After the sandwiches are made, volunteers are welcome to head to Harundale Presbyterian Church, 1020 Eastway, Glen Burnie, where some of the sandwiches and other goodies are distributed to the needy.
Ages: All ages are welcome to volunteer. Sandwich-making activities are appropriate for younger children.
Time Commitment: Approximately two and one-half hours

Sunday Meal Service at Our Daily Bread
Happy Helpers for the Homeless
Date/Time: Every Sunday, 1:40 - 3:30pm
Location: Our Daily Bread, 725 Fallsway Rd, Baltimore
Happy Helpers for the Homeless is an all-volunteer organization. On Sundays, they serve sandwiches, dessert, and drinks to Baltimore's needy. They also distribute canned goods, toiletries, and clothing. If you have items to donate, you can bring them with you when you come to volunteer.
Ages: All ages welcome, but suggested minimum age is eight years old.
Time Commitment: Approximately two hours

Tree Planting
Blue Water Baltimore
Date/Time: Saturday, April 9, 9am - noon. Please arrive on time to receive direction and to watch a demonstration of the tasks before getting started.
Location: Beechfield Elementary/Middle School, 301 S. Beechfield Ave, Baltimore
Get your hands dirty for clean water! Join Blue Water Baltimore for a volunteer tree planting event. They will provide the trees, gloves, tools, and training. Tree planting projects are held rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather. Wear clothes and sturdy (closed-toe) shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or wet. Please bring a water bottle.
Ages: Everyone is welcome to participate. First timers, groups and families welcome.
Time Commitment: A three-hour shift is encouraged, but we understand that circumstances might mean that a family needs to leave early.

Park and Shoreline Cleanup!
Clean Bread & Cheese Creek
Date/Time: Saturday, April 16, 9am - 2pm
Location: Bear Creek Park, at the intersection of Park Haven and Melbourne Road in Dundalk. Registration will be located at the intersection of Park Haven and Gray Haven Road (Near Bear Creek Elementary School). Look for the registration tents and the "Clean Bread and Cheese Creek" banners.
Help clean up the park and historic shoreline of Bear Creek. This cleanup is run as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including:
- Digging out shopping carts and hauling trash to the dumpsters.
- Running water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek.
- Sorting recyclables from the debris that is removed.
- Assisting with registration, food and snack set-up, as well as many other less strenuous activities.
Volunteers will be provided with lunch, snacks, and water as well as gloves and trash bags. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but please bring your own if you have them. This cleanup will be run in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Annual Project Clean Stream Event and American Rivers. Learn more about the

Ages: All ages are welcome to participate.
Time Commitment: Volunteers can volunteer for as long or as little as they like. A brief five-minute orientation will be given prior to the start of the event.

Earth Day Celebration 2016 - Make A Difference!
Howard County Conservancy
Date/Time: Saturday, April 23, 9am - 1pm. There will be a children's craft activity from 11:30am-12:30pm in the picnic area.
Location: 10520 Old Frederick Rd., Woodstock
Join the Conservancy for this annual day of service where participants will be planting trees in and around stream buffers, removing non-native invasive plants from meadows and woodlands, and cleaning up our streams! Younger children will enjoy the tadpole release. Students can bring their service hour reports for Conservancy staff to sign. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. Following your service project, you can visit the nature center and resident animals.
Ages: Families with children age four and up are welcome to participate.
Time Commitment: Service work events run from 9am to 1pm. Volunteers can stop by to help and leave when they like.

Host an Activity Hour at the Ronald McDonald House

Organizing a night of karaoke, or bingo or special crafts nights can help keep little ones busy and often provide parents with a little relaxation. Please review

8th Annual Baltimore Heroes Event
St. Baldrick's Foundation
Date/Time: Sunday April 10, 1 - 6pm
Location: Martin's East - 9000 Pulaski Highway, Middle River
The Baldrick's Foundation is the largest volunteer driven charity to fund childhood cancer research in the world. At the Baltimore Heroes event, men, women, and children will shave their heads in solidarity with the children who lose their hair from harsh cancer treatments. All money donated to these brave shavees for their commitment to shave is donated to life-saving childhood cancer research.
