Vegfest Volunteers
Vegetarians of Washington

Date/Time: Saturday, April 9 or Sunday, April 10. There are three shifts each day:
  • 9:45am - 2pm
  • 11:45am - 4pm
  • 1:45 - 6pm
Location: Seattle Center's Exhibition Hall, Mercer St & 3rd Ave N, Seattle

Vegfest is the largest vegetarian food festival in the United States. It is held at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall each spring. Each year there are doctors and dietitians talking about nutrition, chefs giving cooking demonstrations, a huge bookstore and over 500 different kinds of food to try. Families are needed to volunteer as Outside Advertisers. These volunteers walk around the Seattle Center grounds with a signboard and a handful of flyers, answering questions and directing people towards the event. This role is important since many people do not know where to find the Exhibition Hall. You don't need to be a vegetarian to volunteer!

Ages: Children under 15 are welcome to volunteer with an adult parent or teacher.

Time Commitment: Volunteer shifts are four hours, plus a 15-minute orientation

Have you and your family worked on a Project of the Month from our monthly listings? Please tell us about it using our  Good Stories form!  Here's a quote from Noah who participated in the Assemble CWS Kits project:

"I bet in the places the [Syrian] refugees have to stay, they don't have a school, so they need the same things I do like notebooks and pencils."

Noah's mom added: "This was a great project for Noah for two reasons: First, he has been very interested and concerned about the Syrian refugees, so it was nice to have something proactive for him to do; and second, he loves his schooling so much, the idea that refugees would not have the supplies to keep doing their schooling was very upsetting to him. With this project, he was able to help. "
