ARE YOU IN THE LOOP?

Spring is upon us and it's time to feather your nest. What is it about cotton and linen that makes us long for a porch, deck, patio or beach blanket. Pillows, throws, placemats, coasters, baskets, bath cloths, potholders, market baskets.......
be it ball, hank, cake or cone there is plenty to choose,           there's no place like home.

Cestari Sheep and Wool Company is a small family-owned and operated American manufacturer of knitting and crocheting yarn.  We have a farm in Augusta County, Virginia where we raise sheep for wool that we use in our yarn.  We also source wool from reputable ranchers throughout the United States.  All of our sheep and wool products are always grown and processed in the United States.  Our cotton products are grown and processed exclusively in Virginia.
Cestari wool is washed using a scouring process that keeps natural lanolin in the yarn and maintains the natural bounce and texture of the wool.  We prefer our scouring process to the more contemporary carbonizing process because a carbonizing acid bath, done overseas, would burn out the vegetable matter, leaving the wool very clean but removing the lanolin and leaving the wool with less bounce and changing the original texture.  Sometimes specks of easily removable hay or straw remain in our yarn; owner Francis Chester likes to say that if you put his yarn to your ears, you can almost hear the sounds of life within it.

TANKS 'n TEE-SERS FOR THE SEASON

Whether the warmer weather or your own personal heatwave, we are ready to start stripping away layers for lighter weight tanks and tees. Throughout spring and summer we will be adding to our new Pinterest Board  Tanks 'n Tee-sers . You might not be ready to bury the toes in the sand yet but we hope you are ready to cast on at least one warm weather top.

WHAT'S HATCHING ON OUR NEEDLES

three chicks

Giant Granny Mash-Up. We took Purl Soho's Giant Granny Square Blanket (granny square tutorial) and the Giant Flower Granny Bed Spread by Mrs. Moon (colors, hook size, picot edge idea) and mashed the two concepts into our Giant Granny Mash-Up. The blanket uses (3) balls each of Debbie Bliss Roma in three colors and (4) balls in finishing color.  Stop in and see the finished blanket on display and modifications will be available in the shop with yarn purchase.

Deep End by Heidi Kirrmaier we took Heidi's shawl and gave it a spring fling with (1) skein each of five colors in Ito Gima.

Tread by Shannon Cook knit with one skein of Woolfolk Far and topped with one of our Alpaca pompoms.
