April 2018 - Home Repair Season Gets Underway
NOW OPEN: 2018 SHARP Grants for City  of Syracuse Homeowners

SHARP Grants, or the Syracuse Homeowner Assistance and Repair Program, are now available to eligible city of Syracuse homeowners for needed small, exterior home repairs. The program, made possible through city of Syracuse's Community Development Block Grant funding, provides up to $1,250 for exterior work such as steps, railings, storm doors and window repair and to address code violations or life/safety issues.

Eligible homeowners must meet income eligibility requirements, be current on property taxes and water bills and must provide 10% of their own funds toward the repair project. Interested homeowners are encouraged to apply quickly as last year's SHARP funding was allocated in just four days.

Funding is extremely limited! We recommend applying ASAP. Program information and SHARP applications can be found HERE or by calling Home HeadQuarters at (315) 474-1939.

Homeowners who have already applied, but need additional help with their application paperwork, can meet directly with program staff on SHARP SATURDAY, April 28, 2018, 9am-2pm at Home HeadQuarters, 538 Erie Blvd. West. Call (315) 474-1939 to reserve your spot!

Debbie DeJesus: Another Boomerang

We have a name for employees who leave Home HeadQuarters and then come back: boomerangs. Debbie DeJesus, our new Senior Lending Administrator, is the latest in an ever-expanding boomerang club of people the organization has welcomed back. Debbie first came to Home HeadQuarters as a home buyer of one of the organization's substantial rehabs in Skunk City. For now, Debbie is helping to process home improvement loan applications, coordinate inspection staff and ensure that contractors and homeowners get through the process with ease.

Debbie moved to Syracuse from Puerto Rico when she was just five years old. She currently attends SUNY Oswego where she is working towards a degree in criminal justice. When she's not studying, Debbie enjoys riding her motorcycle in and around the area.

A Little Kitchen Remodel...
The paint was barely dry when the new, first-time homeowner moved into our recent rehab on Syracuse's Southside. The home, a rare city ranch-style house, needed a little of everything, especially a kitchen re-do. We do want to go on record saying that the kitchen light looks suspiciously similar!
