Spend quality time with your family helping keep Central Park green by helping us with seasonal projects.
 
Ages: Families with children ages four and up; maximum of three children per adult. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Yom Ha'atzmaut Package Delivery
UJA-Federation/Time for Good - J-Serve Teen Service Day for Dorot
 
Date/Time: Sunday April 15, 10am - noon
 
Location: Upper West Side

Jewish teens will visit Jewish seniors as part of DOROT's Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration and UJA-Federation's national day of service. This event will enable isolated seniors to celebrate Israeli Independence Day with a caring intergenerational community. Teens will gather at DOROT to attend an orientation and deliver "taste of Israel" food packages. In groups of two to four, volunteers will visit DOROT seniors in their homes for an hour to share their spirit for Israel .

A Day of Stewardship and Beautification at Ruppert Park
Muslim Volunteers for New York Inc. (MV4NY)
 
Date/Time: Saturday, April 21, 10am - 1pm
 
Location: Ruppert Park, 1741 East, 2nd Avenue, (corner of 90th St. and 2nd Avenue)

Please Join MV4NY to commemorate "Earth Day" and enjoy a family, fun-filled day in beautifying one of your neighborhood parks. Activities include, planting, weeding, mulching, clean-up, painting, earth-friendly arts and crafts and much more.
 
Ages: All ages are welcome. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Time Commitment: People are welcome to join us at any time between 10am to 1pm.

Soup Kitchen
The Manhattan Church of Christ
 
Date/Time: Saturdays -  April 14 and 21, 10am - 2pm.
 
Location: Manhattan Church of Christ, 48 East 80th Street

The Saturday Lunch Program provides hot meals with dignity and compassion to the homeless or those who live marginally. All shifts are family-friendly and involve a set-up team to set tables and decorate, a service team to run trays of food back and forth to the guests, and a break down & clean up team. Volunteers help set up, prepare and serve meals, then break down and clean up.
 
Ages: All ages are welcome to participate
 
Time Commitment: Varies, come for a few hours or stay for the entire shift!

Earth Day Celebration

GO GREEN! Help St. James Recreation Center and Friends of St. James Park take care of our park and playground. Activities and service include: recycling projects, gardening, tree care and clean up.

9/11 Memorial 5K Run/Walk and Family Day
National September 11 Memorial and Museum
 
Date/Time: Sunday, April 22
  • 5K events begin at 8am
  • Family Day activities are 9am - 2pm
Location: Run/Walk begins at Pier 26; Family Day will be held on Greenwich Street, between Cortland and Liberty, adjacent to the 9/11 Memorial Plaza

The 911 Memorial is sponsoring the annual 5K Run/Walk and Family Day to raise awareness about the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and to encourage volunteerism in memory of 9/11. Following the 5K Run/Walk, Family Day festivities will include entertainment and meaningful activities for all ages, food and refreshments. This free event will also offer information about the Memorial and Museum and ways to learn about volunteer opportunities.

Contact:  Pre-registration and a fee are required for participating in the 5K, and there are adult, teen and child divisions. The Family Day event is free and does not require registration.

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine provides a volunteer platform to bridge the gap between surplus prepared food from businesses and local shelters and soup kitchens who give this food to those in need. Volunteers are asked to pick up food and bring it directly to the nonprofit food recipient. The Celebrate U Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2014 by two 15-year-old girls. The mission of Celebrate U is to spread happiness by throwing birthday parties for disadvantaged children, living in underserved communities. The effect of these celebrations goes way beyond cake and party favors. Celebrate U believes that by showing children that their community truly cares about them, it can raise self-esteem, provide hope for a brighter future and empower children. A short training session will take place for new volunteers one week prior to each event.
 
Ages: Kids in 5th grade and up are welcome to volunteer on their own.
