Beginning Again

Many religious traditions have a festival or a season that invites its participants to 'begin again.' This season often emerges out of a time of reflection, which makes it possible for the individual to remember what dimensions of life need to be 're-set.' In the Christian tradition, the prayers offered at the Easter Vigil remind us that things that have grown old are being made new.  "Always we begin again" is a phrase offered in the Rule of St. Benedict.

Walking around our campus, the signs of life bursting forth after a life of dormancy surround us on every side. It is our hope that our guests find this a place to both get in touch with those dimensions of life that need a 're-set' and to start walking a path, always beginning again.'

If you would like to schedule a retreat, individual or group, please contact the TSC office at 513.771.2171, or send an email to [email protected].
RECOGNIZING THE SPIRIT
Join us for a retreat led by Fr. Martin Smith May 18 to 20, 2018

In this largely silent retreat over the Pentecost weekend our meditations will explore the signs of the Spirit in our lives, deepening our awareness of the ways the Holy Counselor prompts, stirs, attracts, defends, and guides us as we make our way through the opportunities and struggles of everyday life.

His books exploring contemporary spirituality include,  A Season for the Spirit, Reconciliation, The Word is Very Near You, Love Set Free and  Compass and Stars. He is based in Washington DC.

Cost is $250 for overnight and $150 for commuters. Registration is available on line, via email to [email protected], or by phone: 513.771.2717.
CONVOCATION in ASSISI MAY 13 - 17 2018
Extending the  Spirit  of Assisi: Creating Avenues for Collaboration in Times of Transition and Uncertainty

Join Dr. Gillian Ahlgren, Professor of Xavier University; Fr. Peter Neeley, S.J. of the Kino Border Initiative; and Aida Segura, of House of Peace Chicago for this transformative event in Assisi.  Hosted in coordination with the Assisi Mayor's Office, the Convocation will use the sacred places and experiences central to the lives of St. Francis & St. Clare to help us address the pressing issues of our times: climate change, refugees and migrants, violence against women and children.  Come share the journey and help us build the culture of encounter that supports God's dream for today's world.  For more information visit https://mysticallife.org or contact [email protected].

Grief Recovery Workshop beginning in August

One of the least acknowledged and
least addressed concerns in our society is:
Grief  (The normal and natural reaction to loss)

Whether your loss is from:
* Death of a loved one * Divorce or end of a relationship
* Loss of career * Loss of a substance dependency
* Loss of trust
* Loss of dreams * Loss of security * Loss of health

Grief will continue to affect our lives and the lives of those around us adversely when
we are forced to accept the many Myths About Grief:

Time heals all wounds
Replace the loss
Grieve alone
Be strong for others
Bury your feelings

This Outreach program will guide those who wish to resolve their loss issues
to move beyond their grief to a richer quality of life.

8-week program will be conducted by
Kay Fraley, M.Ed. M.Div. Certified Grief Recovery® Specialist.

The program is affiliated with and endorsed by The Grief Recovery Institute.
This format has been developed by Russell P. Friedman, Executive Director,  and John W. James, Founder of the Grief Recovery Institute, and authors  of The Grief Recovery Handbook-The Action Program for
Moving Beyond Death, Divorce and Other Losses.

The 8-Week Program will begin
Thursday, August 9, 2018
Time: 2:30PM to 4:30 PM

PLACE:
Transfiguration Spirituality Center
495 Albion Ave., Glendale, OH

       Art from a retreat participant

We can't say it enough...'Thank you.' These two little words make it possible for us as relational beings to always begin again. A simple "thank you" can keep us coming back to conversations; it makes us feel appreciated. Thanks are often expressed by our guests, and we don't always have the chance to show how much you are appreciated.

Thank you for being engaged with the Transfiguration Spirituality Center.

Blessings,
(The Rev.) Anne Reed
