Student Opportunities

Deadline extended to April 30, 2018. Judges will be Ianna Frisby and Laura Parker.

Please invite and encourage your students to apply to Fe Gallery's "Metamorphosis," a high school art show. The exhibit will be held at the Fe Gallery in East Sacramento throughout June and July 2018. It will be professionally juried by local college professors, who will select at least one student to receive a cash scholarship and a chance to be included in a subsequent group exhibit at the gallery. Other prizes will be determined over the next months as we complete our crowd-funding campaign.

The exhibit and scholarship are intended to highlight and promote the advanced art programs offered at high schools in the greater Sacramento area. The application is open to high school seniors beginning on November 15, 2017, and ending April 30, 2018. The preferred process of submitting applications to the gallery will be done electronically to [email protected]. However; we will accept mailed applications to Fe Gallery/NetApp, 1100 65 th  Street, Sacramento, CA 95819.

If you have any questions please email or call Fe Gallery.
Dear teachers,

My name is Bernardo and I am from Anabá Waldorf School in Florianópolis, Brazil
I write this letter in order to ask for some help.

For several months I have being trying to find a "partner" on the Wal-di platform to exchange experiences through this program.

My conclusion, after several attempts is that:
From a person who lives in a country which the mother tongue (Portuguese) is not part of the mainstream languages, the options are extremely scarce.

So, I have decided to write to your school to see if I can find a way to make myself known and, perhaps, broaden my possibilities to find someone.

Well, I am at the first period of the 11th grade (since our school year starts in February - summer here), and the last opportunity for me to travel through the program would be next semester (beginning in August).  I know we do not have much time, but it is because of that I am taking a more direct attitude towards my plans.

I speak English and Spanish reasonably well, and I know a bit of French (I have been in France for 4 months accompanying the studies of my mom). I am an "easy-going" boy, in certain ways I am independent (I know how to take care of myself) and have many interests in life. The most crucial now is to have this experience in another country, because I know this will sum many good things in my personality and therefore, my life.

My family is very open to host a student for as long as six months starting in the beginning of next year (February). We are already receiving next August a boy from Switzerland (the "partner" of my sister who is in the 10th grade). In our school, right now, there are two exchanging students (a girl from Australia and another from Germany). And the ideal duration of the experience for me (and my family) would be from four to six months. But we are very flexible on that.

Well, I hope I've not been to "desperate", but I really do not know another way to make my dream come true. If there is a family who could host me without a student of my age, I would be very happy too.

Good luck for all of us.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Help Us Hit Our Target!
Archery is a favorite activity for students at Carver.  All students learn and practice archery during a block each year in Physical Education class. Nearly 10 years ago, Ms. Schroeder received a grant from the California Department of  Fish and Wildlife which provided bows and arrows, targets and all the equipment needed to run a successful archery program at Carver.  Nearly a decade -- and hundreds of students later -- Carver needs to replace and replenish the school's archery equipment.
