Spring has sprung! There is so much happening in the park in the coming weeks.

General Membership Meeting

Join your friends for our semi annual general membership meeting. We will enjoy a morning of great updates from the park, great lunch and even better camaraderie. 

Take a few hours to learn about all of the great things happening in the park this season and how you can get involved. 

And, help us celebrate our 2016 volunteers of the year!



May Day Festivities 

Hit the beach before the crowds!
We'll have Yoga, Tai Chi, Island music, kids' games, environmental displays and naturalist presentations, and nature hikes! Food will be available to purchase.


Lecture Series

This year the Friends of Island Beach State Park has launched a new lecture series. Since February we've hosted seven lectures with a 100+ attendees.

Join us on Sundays through Mid-May to hear from speakers from local environmental organizations. 




NJ Earth Week


The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has administered the Earth Day -
New Jersey website (www.earthdayNJ.org) for almost 20 years.

The Earth Day - New Jersey website features an Events Calendar that lists between as many as 100 or more public events, including fairs, cleanups, plantings, festivals, walks and outdoor programs.


Science of the Shore  

This is the seventh installment of the "Science of the Shore Column" written by Bianca Charbonneau, Phd candidate. 

Dunes are a really great place to learn about succession because the process was discovered on them and you can see the communities - it is the gradual increase in complexity that you may have noticed as you walk up a beach path through the dune system.
