Regular meetings are the second Wednesday of each month, September - June, at Bridlemile Elementary School.

Bridlemile Neighborhood Association Meeting

Wednesday, April 9, 6:30pm in the Faculty Lounge, Bridlemile School, 4300 SW 47th Dr.

Agenda:
- Introductions and welcomes

- Committee reports, police report
- Board, candidates, elections coming

- Southwest Corridor Plan discussion, Metro Commissioner Bob Stacey, guest.

- Action Plan for 2014-2015

Metro Commissioner Bob Stacey will attend our April meeting for a brief discussion of the Southwest Corridor Project. Our March meeting determined the project preferences of residents attending. The top three were sent to the SWNI Transportation Committee, along with other submitted comments.

Please get involved in your neighborhood association! We are looking for volunteers to help with issues and projects. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard on issues that concern your family and the neighborhood. All committee chairmanships and Board positions are now due for election, for a one-year term of office. The April meeting will accept nominations, with elections at the May meeting. Email Steve Mullinax, [email protected] with your interest or questions.

Saving the Southwest Watershed Resource Center. The City of Portland's Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) draft budget for FY 2014-15 recommends eliminating funding for SWNI's SW Watershed Resource Center. If you appreciate the work that Jen Seamans and others do to help us all protect our watersheds, we need your help to restore this funding. There are several opportunities to make your thoughts known to decision makers. For more background and ways to submit comments, see Save the SW Watershed Resource Center!  A Community Budget Forum will take place, Wed., April 9, PCC Sylvania Performing Arts Center, 12000 SW 49th Ave; 6:30pm-8:30pm. Unfortunately, this conflicts with the Bridlemile Neighborhood Association meeting. Interested residents are still encouraged to attend this forum and testify or submit comments.

March meeting recap. SWNI Executive Director Sylvia Bogert gave us a primer on Neighborhood Associations and Boards in March. We will need to update our bylaws to conform to ONI guidelines, when those guidelines are complete, later this year.

We elected Jon Cohen as Bridlemile Schools Chair. We welcome him to the Bridlemile Board. Nominations for all Chairs and Board positions are now open. Protected Sick Time is here! As of January 1, 2014, the City of Portland's new Protected Sick Time ordinance went into effect, providing workers in Portland with a protected right to earn sick time to use when they or a family member are sick, injured, or in need of preventive health care.

The ordinance applies to all employees who work within the geographic boundaries of the city of Portland for 240 hours or more in a calendar year.
