Continuing Education Hours Opportunity
Pasadena City College has free classes such as Mental Health First Aid, Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Healing from Vicarious Trauma, DCFS Roundtable, Preparing Your Child for College, and more that will count for continuing education hours! Jessica Rivas Valle, advocate supervisor
Originally hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, Jessica has spent the last eight years living and working in Los Angeles.For years Jessica worked at World Impact’s Teen Center where she co-founded a leadership development program for at-risk high school students. With the desire to sharpen her skills and further serve families, Jessica received a Master’s of Science in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of Psychology in 2016. Since graduating from Fuller, Jessica has gained professional experience in both the mental health and child welfare fields. Most recently, Jessica worked with Non-Minor Dependents where she provided training that helped prepare young adults to thrive in a future independent from the foster-care system. For fun, Jessica enjoys spending time outside enjoying California’s weather, discovering new music, and watching documentaries on Netflix with her wonderful husband Abraham and precious dog Ruffian. Jessica is also the reigning champion in her fantasy football league and is incredibly proud of that fact.

Application for UCLA's CCCP Scholars Program is Open!
Center for Community College Partnerships (CCCP) at UCLA is now accepting applications from community college students who will be applying to transfer in or after Fall 2018. CCCP focuses on students who may have recently graduated from high school and plan to enroll in a community college OR students currently attending community college who are not following a transfer curriculum at the time of application and show a potential for academic success. The goal of the program is to motivate, inform, and prepare students to transfer from a California community college to a selective Top Tier Research institution such as UCLA. Opportunity to Provide Feedback for Transition Age Youth
California Youth Connection is hosting a Transition Age Youth (TAY) Self Sufficiency Forum for youth to share feedback on a proposed framework for a report to LA's Board of Supervisors. Youth Moving On provides former foster and probation youth, ages 16-25, affordable quality housing and numerous support services to help them transition successfully to adulthood. The program is support by Hillsides and located in Pasadena. Please visit their website

Scholars Program at United Friends of the Children
The Scholars Program will engage foster youth in one-on-one relationships with counselors, help them grow through career development and enrichment, and persist with support through difficult circumstances. United Friends of the Children is seeking referrals for LA County foster youth in grades 7-8, grade 10, and community college students who plan to transfer to a 4-year college within two years. LGBTQ+ Teen Group at the STAR Clinic
Resiliency describes one's ability to overcome stressors and handle tough situations. The LGBTQ+ Teen Group, for teens ages 14-17, builds on teens' strengths and teaches new skills to manage stress. Teens will learn how to build strong and supportive relations, improve communication with family and trusted supports, solve common challenges, manage difficult feelings, and increase enjoyment and self-care. Camp Bob Waldorf
Camp Bob Waldorf is a residential camp for campers ages 9-15 that fosters growth and development in a fun and safe environment. Campers live in a cabin with their peers and trained counselors, and spend the majority of their day experiencing new camp activities such as swimming, archery, high ropes course, hiking, ranch animal care, and arts and crafts.
