2nd Annual Leveling the Playing Field Conference
After months of preparation the day finally arrived! On Monday, April 24th, Doc Wayne hosted our 2nd Annual Leveling the Playing Field Conference. The theme of this year's event was Breaking Down Stigma in Mental Health.

The day included many different learning sessions, including a keynote address from Secretary of Health and Human Services, Marylou Sudders and an expert panel discussing the current landscape of stigma in mental health. This was followed by a My Story segment where speakers shared their personal struggles and victories with stigma in mental health and a Collaboration Table session that allowed for conference attendees to work together to discuss and create action items in order to combat stigma and create a path forward.

Thank you to all of our speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and were able to take away a true learning experience.

U.S. Soccer Foundation's Urban Soccer Symposium
Doc Wayne's CEO, David Cohen, and COO, Rebekah Roulier, presented at the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Urban Soccer Symposium on April 29th. They shared best practices on Uniting Sport and Therapy: A Powerful Intervention for At-Risk Youth with members of the soccer and sport for social change community from across the country.

As a leader in sports-based mental health services, this was a great opportunity to share Doc Wayne's award winning model with those impacting youth across the country.

Doc Wayne also circulated a press release last week, which can be found HERE, announcing  the award of the first of three grants to fund innovative and non-traditional soccer programming from the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

Thank you to the Foundation for your support.

Look for Doc Wayne's Path to the Future Report
In order to keep the conversation and collaboration going, Doc Wayne will be publishing a report that will highlight the action items that event attendees created during the Collaboration Table segment of our Leveling the Playing Field Conference!

These action items address ways to break down stigma in mental health. Our hope is that in publishing this report, we will keep the dialogue going and inspire action and change.

All conference attendees will be receiving this report, as well as our network of supporters. Please contact us with any thoughts on the materials. We welcome feedback and are looking forward to collaborating!

Also, check your inbox and social media in the coming days for graphics that will be summarizing the main themes that were discussed during our annual conference!

For more information on the report, please email Katie Ardrey at kardrey@docwayne.org.
