Addiction & Grace
Wednesdasy @ 10 AM beginning April 12
Room 8

Addiction and Grace - An 8-week Wednesday morning book study beginning April 12. Join facilitators Susan Bourquard and Jane Rantz to read and discuss Dr. Gerald May's book Addiction and Grace .   Dr. May is a psychiatrist working with the chemically dependent. He emphasizes that addiction represents an attempt to assert complete control over our lives. Addiction and Grace offers an inspiring and hope-filled vision for those who desire to explore the mystery of who and what they really are. May examines the "processes of attachment" that lead to addiction and describes the relationship between addiction and spiritual awareness. He also details the various  addictions from which we can suffer, not only to substances like alcohol and drugs, but  to work, sex, performance, responsibility, and intimacy.  This group will meet 8 Wednesday morning from 10-11:30 in Room 8 beginning April 12

Breathing Under Water
Thursdays, April 20 - July 6
7 - 8:30 PM
Parlor

Breathing Under Water will meet on Thursday evenings, 7 - 8:30, from April 20 - July 6.  We are all addicted in some way. When we learn to identify our addiction, embrace our brokenness, and surrender to God, we begin to bring healing to ourselves and our world. In Breathing Under Water, Richard Rohr shows how the gospel principles in the twelve steps can free anyone from any addiction. This can be from an obvious dependence on alcohol or drugs to the more common but less visible addictions some of us have, such as relying on people, places and things for our happiness. This results in emotional and spiritual suffering. Learn how God wants to free us from all the things that may cause us spiritual bondage. Please join with me for a 12-week book discussion of Breathing Under Water beginning Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 PM, in the parlor.  Books are available in the office or Sundays in the lobby for $10.  Signup sheets will be in the lobby and/or contact Jane Rantz @ 614-203-9869 should you have further questions

April is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month
Head and neck cancers are a group of cancers that usually begin in the squamous cells that line the mucosal surfaces inside the mouth, nose, throat, and occasionally the salivary glands. These squamous cell cancers are often referred to as squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck. Head and neck cancers account for nearly 3 percent of all cancers in the United States, the National Cancer Institute reported. Alcohol and tobacco use are major risk factors for head and neck cancers. Infection with cancer-causing types of the human papillomavirus (HPV) also increases a person's risk of certain head and neck cancers. Click here to learn more!
