Waldorf at UMLAUF Success!
Thank you for a beautiful night at Waldorf at UMLAUF! More than 200 parents, faculty, alumni parents, alumni and friends came together to raise funds to support our current and future students. The event grossed $125,000 and netted $88,000, e very dollar of this money will go towards improving our beautiful 19-acre campus.

Deadline for 2017-2018 Financial Aid Recipients
BY LEE UERKWITZ

Recipients of financial aid for the 2017-2018 school year must provide the school with a copy of their 2016 federal tax return no later than April 17th.  Filing extensions granted by the IRS cannot be used to extend the AWS requirement deadline.  I would urge you to take a moment to make a copy of your return and send, email or drop it off to the business office of the school.   Please do not upload your tax documents to the SSS website. 
 

Morning Care Help Still Needed

We are still looking for a few more people to work in extended care
.  It is a wonderful way to connect with the school and the children! We would also like to build our list of substitutes and those available to work Saturdays during parent mornings.  These are paid positions.

  • Grades morning care: 7:30-8:30 AM Monday through Friday
  • Substitution list for Grades and Kindergarten for morning and afternoon
  • Saturday parent mornings (offered through Parent Society)

Why Fairy Tales Are Important

This year, the 1st grade brought the play Briar Rose to life for our community. Julie Barsam-Cummings explains why fairy tales are an important part of the Waldorf curriculum. Plus, some adorable photos of our 1st graders during the play. 
This February representatives from our 7th and 8th grade attended the  Diversity Leadership Conference  which united 100+ youth from more than 20 Austin-area middle schools for a day dedicated to breaking barriers and stereotypes, finding unity in diversity and growing as compassionate leaders.
The 3rd grade class has begun their annual Book and Cookie Sale benefiting the school library. If you missed the first day of the sale, you still have a chance. Head over to Tea Garden on Friday, April 7th and bring cash!
9th and 10th grade students are learning how the practice of gardening connects each individual to the earth while helping them understand exactly where our food comes from. 
Just before Spring Break the Seniors had a wonderful trip to the Bamberger Ranch.  This was part of their 12th grade Biology course that focuses on Ecology, Genetics and Evolution.
