Community Scrapbook
We know you have stories and photos to share about your memory-making experiences in Castle Pines. Maybe you brought your first-born child home from the hospital to your house in Castle Pines, or you're a proud Castle Pines business owner. Perhaps you've celebrated a milestone birthday or personal achievement with family and friends in the City. We want to see your photos and hear your stories! We'll collect this information from community members throughout the month of April and compile it into an anniversary scrapbook that will be shared online and printed and saved in the City archives.

New City Council Study Session Meetings

In addition to the regular City Council meetings that take place on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month, Study Session meetings have been scheduled for the 1st Tuesday each month on an as-needed basis beginning May 1. An exception to this schedule is the April Study Session meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, April 17.

Study Session meetings are open to the public and take place in the Event Hall at 360 Village Square Ln. These meetings differ in several ways from the regular Council meetings. While Council may give direction to City staff, they will not cast any votes during the meeting. It's also an opportunity for Council to ask questions or discuss a project or issue in a less formal meeting setting. No meeting minutes are taken and there isn't an opportunity for public comment.

Welcome, Treasurer Aaron Cowan

Aaron Cowan was appointed by City Council to fill the Treasurer vacancy created when Gregg Fisher was sworn in as a council member in January. At the March 27 meeting, Mr. Cowan was officially sworn in to office to serve until the next regular election in November 2019, whereupon a successor will be elected and will take office in January 2020.

Help Keep our Parks Clean this Spring

The springtime weather we're having means residents - especially our four-legged ones - are really enjoying the outdoors. Please help keep our parks, trails and sidewalks clear of pet waste by picking up after your dog. All parks within the City require that your dog remain on a leash. If you're looking for more space for your pet to roam, visit Glendale Farm Open Space, which is maintained by Douglas County and includes a 17-acre off-leash dog park.

Extension of Lagae Rd. at Happy Canyon Rd. Now Open

The extension of Lagae Road to the south is complete, and, for the first time, connects to E. Happy Canyon Road, providing a new access point through the City. Drivers should be aware that the street design at the intersection of Lagae Rd. and Chase Ln., just north of Happy Canyon Rd., requires drivers on Chase Ln. to yield to motorists on Lagae Rd. It's important for residents to obey all traffic laws and be aware of street signage, especially on this newly constructed stretch of roadway.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for Unincorporated Douglas County and Castle Pines

By order of Sheriff Tony Spurlock, Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in place for Douglas County and the City of Castle Pines. Prohibited activities include open burning of any kind and the use of fireworks. For a list of allowable activities, visit the Sheriff's Office website

Violation of these fire restrictions are considered a Class-2 Petty Offense, punishable by up to a $1,000 fine. If you hear or see fireworks in your neighborhood, you are encouraged to call 911 or 303-660-7500.
