APRIL NEWS
April / 9 / 2018
Dear Forest Hills Family and Friends,

As we look forward to Spring's arrival (better late than never!), we have lots of great Life Enrichment programs coming up. Therese Ellsworth is back on the piano to delight us with her Piano Favorites, and Joey Manlapaz continues to deliver her expert Art Lecture and Art Workshop experiences. Read on in this newsletter for highlights of other programs and the full Life Enrichment  calendar.

Don't forget about our impressive new Wellness Program, designed by a physical therapist and tailored to each resident. This exercise program includes cardio, strengthening and balance exercises. We are excited to offer this program in an effort to assist our residents in remaining active and healthy. After their therapy is complete, a resident can come down to the gym as often as they like and workout on their own.

Finally, we hope you have already received your Save the Date for our famously fun 26th Annual Golf Tournament & Awards Banquet on June 18th! Read on in this newsletter for more information and keep an eye on your inbox for your official invitation coming soon.

Sending my warm regards,

Spotlight on CUA Nursing Students
Reflections from Community Health training

For the past five years, in our enduring commitment to develop the healthcare workforce, Forest Hills has welcomed nursing students from the Catholic University of America. Students are exposed to all facets of our services, and the benefits they gain are evident in the reflections they submit. Over the next few newsletters, we will share with you excerpts from those reflections, with permission from the students:

"When I arrived at Forest Hills, we went on a tour of the facility. I really enjoyed this because as we were walking around the halls we met many of the residents that we will be seeing and interacting with in the upcoming weeks... Ms. O was telling us about how she went to Trinity University just down the street from CUA. She then continued to talk about all of the popular spots when she lived in what she called "B-land". My absolute favorite part of the day was ...[when] the residents were finishing up their ice cream and the entertainment staff asked us to do a dance and sing a song. We sang 'You Are My Sunshine' and all of the residents loved it as they smiled, clapped, and some sang along."
