Volunteer Hours

Growing
Tree's volunteer program is an essential part of why Growing Tree works. Your willingness to contribute your talents and expertise are a valued resource, and we appreciate all that you do.

It is your responsibility to record your completed volunteer hours in the Volunteer Notebook located at the front desk.  Just ask if you don't know where it is.

If you leave Growing Tree before your volunteer hours are complete, please understand that the 10 hours you pledged to complete in a calendar year are not pro-rated, and you will be billed $10 for each hour not completed.

Fighting for Enough Sleep... In Preschool?
by Jennifer Warner

Napping may be something many parents of young children take for granted, but you may need to fight for it at your child's preschool.

New research has suggested that napping plays an important role in helping preschoolers learn because it allows them to consolidate memories.

Message from the Board

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Plum Fund account this month. Currently we have raised $8346, which is 13% of our goal towards remodeling the Branch and Blossom Rooms this summer. Please keep sharing our Plum Fund account with friends, families and businesses. You will find the Plum Fund link under Fundraising Links in the left hand column. Thanks again for your support.

Teacher Appreciation week will be May 12th-16th.
Each year we think of a different theme for the week and find creative ways to show our teachers how much we appreciate all their hard work. Get ready for some fun! More information to follow.

The GT Fund Raising committee is organizing a Growing Tree cocktail party for parents in May. Please look for your E-vite in your email inbox in early May.

 Sunscreen Q & A

Q: Does sunscreen expire?

A: Yes, it does. Because of that  please bring a new bottle of sunscreen in each year to protect your child's baby soft skin.

The Early Learning Division formally known as the Childcare Division has specific regulations that we must follow in regards to sunscreen:
  • Written parental authorization must be obtained prior to applying sunscreen
  • Sunscreen must have a SPF of 15 or higher
  • Sunscreen will not be applied to children who are younger than six months
  • Aerosol sunscreen may not be used on children in childcare

First Friday

First Friday will be held on Friday, April 4th. Please pay prior to Friday night so that we may pay the teachers in a timely manner. The cost is $20 per child.

Just a reminder, if you cancel after signing up, you will still be responsible for First Friday fees.
Thank you! In May First Friday will be held on May 2nd..
