Electric Buses to Hit Brampton Streets
As Early as Spring 2018
Council has approved the purchase of up to ten battery-electric buses and four high-powered electric charging stations. The battery electric buses will be launched on two Brampton Transit routes, 23 Sandalwood and 26 Mount Pleasant, with the overhead charging stations at the Mount Pleasant Village terminal, Queen Street/Highway 50 Züm station, and Sandalwood Transit Facility.

A better understanding of the electric bus technology will help prepare Brampton Transit to meet future growth demands of the City and reduce fuel costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Brampton's electric bus initiative was made possible by participating as the lead transit agency in the Pan-Ontario Electric Bus Demonstration and Integration Trial. This unique partnership model is a global first, involving multiple levels of government, bus manufacturers, system integrators and funding partners, collaborating on breakthrough technology to improve the environment.   [more...]
