Great Family Service Project

Calling all First Pres Families!!!! Meet us in the Fellowship Hall Saturday, April 14th at 8:30am for biscuits, donuts, coffee, and juice before we caravan to Restoration Rome’s Comcast Day (1400 Crane Street) 9:00am-1:00pm. They are in need of 200+ volunteers to work on jobs such as outdoor clean up, landscaping, pressure washing, sanding/painting of meeting rooms, organizing clothes and toy closets, writing thank-you cards & blanket-making (kid-friendly) and much more. Comcast will bring all supplies needed for the day! Just bring your family and friends to help them unlock potential grant money from Comcast and accomplish their mission of restoring broken families in our community. Please call the church office if you plan on meeting us for breakfast.

After volunteering, head to the South Rome Redevelopment Spring Festival at Anna K. Davie Elementary School (24 E Main St SW) going on from 11 am - 6 pm. You can grab lunch, play games with the family, tour the Early Learning Center and check out what South Rome Redevelopment has done by interrupting the generational cycle of poverty through educational opportunities, housing choices, healthy outcomes and economic development. www.southrome.org

For more information on either event please contact Amy Edwards at 706-594-0878 .

There will be a Family Potluck and Sing-along on next Sunday, April 8th in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 pm. We will gather for great food and fellowship followed by singing some of our favorite old hymns, led by Dr. Aaron Rice. We hope this will be a fun inter-generational event. All are welcome and please invite your friends.

Missions Spotlight: Andrew Brunson Update
Mission Network News recently wrote the following about Andrew Brunson’s case: “As we shared earlier this month, American Pastor Andrew Brunson recently received a heavy indictment from the public prosecutor in Turkey. And now, there’s been a new development in his case. According to Middle East Concern, the new indictment came in the form of a 62-page document. It formerly accused Brunson of being connected with Fethullah Gülen and his followers, and of being linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Miles Windsor of Middle East Concern (MEC) says, ‘The latest information is that a court date has been set for Andrew to appear in court on these charges.’ The date set is April 16. Windsor says it’s good to see some movement in Brunson’s case. And yet, there is still great cause for concern. He and his family would appreciate prayer that God would be strengthening him, that Andrew would know God’s peace in this situation, and his presence. It’s obviously an incredibly stressful time…We would appreciate prayer that the Turkish court would uphold justice and reject these allegations as well, and that God would provide wisdom to the Turkish lawyer who will be representing Andrew, as well. And ultimately, that Andrew will be released and be able to see his family and head home’.”
