Here’s a few of my ideas and a few “borrowed” from others...and REMEMBER The Chamber suggests you ENGAGE, CONNECT and then count on GROWTH.
1.
Do NOT try to SELL anybody anything at a Chamber event. CONNECT on a social level.
Get one piece of personal info that might come in handy down the road.
2.
Your ELEVATOR Drill should pique their interest to ask a question ...so you can explain more.
Sometimes I say in regards to our storage business “I help you see your garage floor again.”
3.
FOCUS on the person you are talking to. Ask them questions and care about their
answers... and don’t look around for your next prospect. See if you can help them find a prospective customer.
4.
Find the person that is not engaging with others and engage with that person ‘cuz you
never know who they are or who they know.
5.
When in a group, be the person that asks questions of the group. That sets you up as a person that cares about more the group than yourself.
This engaging with Chamber members has paid off nicely for our Storage Business and our Logo business.
I met my insurance agent (Ferreira) my plumber (Crystal Blue) my concrete company (Viking)
my Chiropractor (Loomis Life Care) my electrician (KSJ) my cabinet maker (West Pacific) my realtor that helped us get new land for Storage expansion (Patricia Green) my computer wiz (Valley IT)...and there are more.
