April Seasonal Checklist

The following are a list of activities to consider for your April gardening:
  • Vegetables and Herbs - We have a great selection of vegetable and herb transplants as well as seeds.  Watch for pests on your vegetable plants.  Early detection and action means you can control pests before damage is significant, and they are easier to control with less toxic options.
  • Perennials & Annuals - Our garden is in full bloom:  pentas, salvia, plumbago, cleome, nicotiana, geranium, caladium,  verbena, bougainvilla and much more!  Water your transplants with a soluble plant food (LadyBug or Medina).  Periodic fertilizing helps to maintain continuous blooms.
  • Trees, Shrubs & Vines - Spring shrubs and vines arriving almost daily.  Come in and check out new inventory such as this Sambac Jasmine, one of several varieties available and this Wisteria getting ready to burst into bloom!
  • Fruits & Nut -Fertilize new fruit plants about six weeks after planting or a couple of weeks after new growth begins.  Stop in and shop our great selection of Citrus and other fruit trees.
  • Lawns - After you have mowed the lawn twice, it is time to fertilize.  Use a product with a 3-1-2 or 4-1-2 ratio of nutrients.  There are several herbicide products available for treatment of dollarweed and other broadleaf weeds.  We can help you select the one that is right for your lawn.
