Greetings!
Happy Spring! John & I have just returned from an amazing and inspirational trip to Italy & Croatia where we did some intensive wine training at Vinitaly - Italy's biggest showcase of Italian Regional wines and visited some wineries of friends who make amazing wines that we will be sharing with all of you in the coming months. In May we will welcome two of these winemakers for special wine events. The details appear below. We were also thrilled and humbled yet again to be included in Chicago Magazines list of the 20 Best New Restaurants of 2012. This is a huge honor and one we plan to live up to. We have also just returned from Saturday's sold - out Baconfest which benefits the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The event raised $50,000 for the GCFD. Something we were proud to be a part of.
The Greenhouse is humming along with loads of new treats for the spring menu which will debut next week. We are also working on a few new menu items and some "mocktails" for the brunch menu. New wines are on the horizon and we are planning a Mixology 101 class for the month of May as well hosted by our most excellent bar team.
Also don't forget we now offer Sunday Brunch, from 10-2.
Our Community Tuesdays partner for the Month of April is The Berwyn C.A.R.E.S., a fantastic group of Berwynites who are working hard to improve the educational experience for Berwyn's children. Come out & support them on Tuesdays this month. Lastly, we just completed installation of an awning on the patio which will allow us to seat outside even in inclement weather. Hooray! Celebrating Chicago's Culinary Crossroads & Historic NATO Visit
"A Croatian Menu - Inspired by Our Recent Travels"
We are so excited to be a part of the coming event Chicago's Culinary Crossroads being held in conjunction with the Illinois Restaurant Association in celebration of the coming NATO Summit. This May, in addition to the new spring menu, from May 1-25 we will join in with a large coalition of Chicago area restaurants in offering a special menu inspired by the food of one of the countries in the NATO coalition. Fresh off our travels to Italy and Croatia we will offer a special tasting menu featuring interpretations inspired by classic Croatian dishes. The three course menu will include the following:

Mussel Salad, Favas, Shaved Peppers, Croutons
Frico with Black Truffles
Roast Lamb, Croatian Olives, Swiss Chard Strudel
Fritule w/ Chocolate Fig Sauce

Mother's Day Brunch

On May 13th we will host a special brunch for Mother's Day with lot's of sumptuous treats for everyone to share at a brunch the critic's are loving. This year each mom will receive a special treat from the restaurant for all that you do. Reservations will be taken for Mother's Day brunch and can be made by phoning 708-775-8122. Join us won't you?

| Wine, Wine & Mixology this May!
As we are about halfway through April, we thought we would tease you with a whole bunch of upcoming wine & cocktail events happening at the restaurant this May. Beginning on May 2nd when we welcome Marco Furlan of the Furlan Estate in Fruili. Marco's father Giancarlo purchased their medieval estate and the family restored it to its former glory. But what is going on in the cellar is what is most interesting. This family makes some incredible wines. Join us on Mar 2nd from 5-7 PM at the bar for a free tasting and the opportunity to learn about his wines first hand.
Next on May 12th we will be offering a mixology class hosted by our amazing bar team. Learn the techniques and get the inside scoop on how to stock your home bar with the tools of the trade. After this class you will know when to shake & when to stir and so much more. Stay tuned for details. Class size will be limited and will include some tasty bar snacks!
Next up on March 18th we will host an industry tasting in the afternoon followed by a free public tasting from 5-7pm featuring the wines of Villa Calcinaia being poured by winemaker Count Sebastiano Capponi of Villa Calcinaia . This line up will include an exceptional grouping of his Chianti's which are much sought after. He will be on hand for most of the evening to talk about his wines and we will offer specials that evening inspired by the Tuscan region and showcasing his estates olive oil as well. The Capponi Family has had a presence in Tuscany for centuries and it shows in the wonderful range of styles that his wines express. Don't miss this one!
May 23rd we will celebrate local wines & cheese as we welcome Alyssa, cheesemonger from Marion Street and collaborate on pairing bubbles from IL Sparkling Company and local Illinois cheeses. Join us at the bar for this tasting from 5-7 PM.
We have a few more dinners on the way as we get in to summer but we hope our May line up has you motivated to wet your whistle!

Community Tuesdays
April's community Tuesdays partner is another great local group Berwyn C.A.R.E.S. (Citizens Aligned to Renew Education for Students) is a community-based organization created to unite residents interested in renewing and sustaining an enthusiasm, interest and passion for the education system in Berwyn. Since 2006, C.A.R.E.S. has established itself as the leading resource for up-to-date, reputable information on Berwyn's District 98, 100, & 201 schools.
