PAJAMA DRIVE UPDATE!
We were very pleased with the participation and community support for the Massachusetts-wide Bruins' PJ Drive. The wrap-up date was March 15th, and we had a total of sixty pairs of jammies, not including slippers! As stated before, these donations stay in the county of Barnstable for our local children helped by the Department of Family and Children Services.
Thank you to all of our wonderful patrons who helped!

What we're loving this month...
Highly Recommended: Mystery Scene Magazine

{Submitted and Adapted by Ellen Russon}

Award-winning Mystery Scene magazine is a great publication to check out at Whelden Memorial Library for lots of reading suggestions and in-depth reports on your favorite authors and authors to discover. In publication since 1985, Mystery Scene is the largest guide to the crime fiction genre, covering thrillers, romantic suspense, noir, espionage, and cozy. As the publishers of the magazine describe, "Our lively, expert coverage ranges from past mystery masters to today's top talents and tomorrow's bright new stars. We report on novels, of course, but also films, TV shows, audio-books, kid's mysteries, short stories, reference works, and much more." The magazine is published five times a year.

The current issue of the magazine features Australian author Jane Harper, author and critic
Anthony Boucher, tough-guy author Mickey Spillane on the centenary of his birth, and Sue Grafton, who died in 2017. The issue's articles include wife and husband Marcia Muller and
Bill Pronzini on team-writing mysteries; Karen E. Olson on strong, resilient women characters who took charge of their own lives and definitely were not victims (in the works of Marcia Muller,
Sue Grafton, Linda Barnes, and Lillian O'Donnellon); an article on "Writers Turned Sleuths" like Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes, and Erle Stanley Gardner, creator of Perry Mason, who became real-life crime solvers; and a report on great first lines ("The Hook"). You also find critics' favorite crime and mystery works of 2017, tons of reviews, a crossword puzzle, letters, and essays.

In addition, https://mysteryscenemag.com/ is a great website with tons of content, including 3,500 book reviews (searchable), readers' recommendations, daily miscellany, blog, crosswords and hangman games, lists of the mystery awards' nominees, and online exclusive articles and features.

For kiddos, Paw Patrol takes the cake! We have a whole slew of new titles that celebrate these fun-loving pups. And a few farm favorites, too. Come take a look!
