March/April 2014

What's been happening

We can't believe it's nearly April, this year has flown by so far!

As the school holidays, Easter period, and Anzac Day all sneak up on us, we're preparing for lots of fun events at our libraries, Marion Cultural Centre and Cove Youth Service.

Some of the school holiday activities have already booked out, especially the Wiggles concerts. There are still places available in other events though, so browse our Events Calendar to see what's happening.

We are also excited by the release of a new app. Download My Local Services to have handy council information at your fingertips.

As always, make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news, events and activities.

*Remember to turn off your lights tomorrow night at 8.30pm for Earth Hour.

Anzac Day Eve Youth Vigil

  Anzac Day Youth Vigil

We're busy planning this year's Anzac Day Eve Youth Vigil to be held at the Edwardstown Bowling Club.

Young people will pay tribute to service personnel who have fought for their country at a public ceremony at 8.30pm on April 24.

The youth, aged 13 to 18, will then stand guard in 30-minute shifts throughout the night leading up to the Anzac Day Dawn Service starting at 6.15am.

Friends, family and the public are invited to attend any part of the commemorative event.

New My Local Services App

We've launched an exciting new app called My Local Services.

You can use the new app on your phone or tablet to get local information, report an issue to us, and find out what's near you.

Find out what's nearby: Discover nearby council facilities such as parks, playgrounds and libraries.

Report issues: Report issues to us which require attention such as damaged bins, graffiti removal and illegal dumping.

Bin collections: Find out which bin to put out and when.

Receive reminders: Get 'push notifications' direct to your phone as reminders for bin set-outs, events and when payments are due.
