APRIL 1st - 15th
First,  we want to thank you for voting us the  best bookstore  and  best children’s gifts  in Denver!! What an honor!! It’s so rewarding to know that this bookstore has become the nurturing, loving place we envisioned when we began. Thank you, thank you!
As April begins, Second Star is also starting a new program. We have become Book Fairies! And, you can become a Book Fairy too! Actress Emma Watson launched this project into worldwide popularity and it has now spread to many countries. Her idea was “to make people love reading again and to spread the love, like random acts of kindness.” This is exactly how Second Star has always felt. We will drop off books for kids to find in many different places throughout the city. In each book, there will be a note inside to pass it on to someone else continuing to spread literacy through random acts of reading. Instagram a picture of you being a book fairy @secondstartotherightbooks and you will receive a personalized coupon for 10% off one item of your choice. You will also be featured on our book fairy photo album on the website.

Caraval
by Stephanie Garver
This is an enchanting book about a dangerous game, two girls and the adventures they have. The main characters, Scarlett and Tella accidentally become part of the game and they have to escape. I loved the rich and descriptive language in this book. I also loved the fast pace of the book.
This group is meant to build community through various outreach opportunities.

Hi Friends,

We are in the process of putting together a Diverse Book Night! We hope this will bring together all members of the community who are interested in celebrating and discussing diverse books! More details to follow.

We are also starting to think about our community garden for this season. If anyone is interested or has a green thumb and could help, we are looking for volunteers to help us in any way. Please
CONTACT US if interested.

Does anyone have any scrap materials like good wood for our Giving Box? This box will be built out front to contain items such as hygiene products, food products, toiletries, or any items for community members in need to give and take. We are so excited about this project!

With lots of love from
,
Amanda & Katie
This group is meant to build community through various outreach opportunities. Our World, Second Star is a program for our community that is based on one-on-one positive interactions & activism. Activities stem from Chelsea Clinton’s 2015 book It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going, which is available at SSTTR. We will coordinate ongoing community involvement so check with us frequently for opportunities to be involved. Email us at ourworldsecondstar@gmail.com if you want to get involved.

We have storytime at 10:30am EVERY DAY! This is for all ages. In the colder months, it is out back in our newly renovated RUMPUS ROOM!

We take GENTLY LOVED books for store credit!

We do PRIVATE STORYTIMES. We have visited many different venues including hospitals, preschools, and mamas groups. We can read to kids and sell books there as well! Just give Kayla or Maddie a call or email them at: kayla2ndstarbooks@gmail.com or events@secondstartotherightbooks.com
Groups can always reserve special times at the store as well!

We have a YA and 3rd-6th GRADE ADVISORY BOARD. Let us know if you would like to participate! These groups help us choose books for the store by reading copies of books before they’re published and providing feedback.

We have WISH LISTS! Have your child come in to fill one out. They’re handy all year, not just holiday time!

FAMILY PLAY TIME every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm - 4pm.  Bring your little ones to our Rumpus Room for a chance to relax and let the kids play! This is a great time to catch up with your
friends and neighbors and let the kids have fun. We will provide self-paced activities and toy demos for the little ones, and coffee and tea for parents and caregivers.

Want a book that you don’t see on the shelf? We can  ORDER IT FOR YOU! This usually takes just a few days to get in, even if it’s an adult book. Just let us know! There is no extra cost.

We accept needed items for our local BIENVENIDOS FOOD BANK. We will also accept cash donations of any amount for Bienvenidos. $1 buys $9 worth of food! For a list of most needed items please visit Bienvenidos Food Bank.

We collect children and adult items for PRECIOUS CHILD. This organization helps kids living in poverty, and adults getting back on their feet. See a list of current needs HERE.

We provide FREE GIFT WRAPPING all year long.

If you visit Dr. Tim or his associates Dr. Kelsey, and Dr. Naomi at TENNYSON PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY, bring your toothbrush and get $1.00 off any new book! Your picture also gets added to our photo album on Facebook for you to see.

Enjoy tea, coffee, or cocoa as you read!

We thank you for your continued support-it means the world to us! Remember that Neverland is Second Star to the Right and straight on ‘till morning. We can’t wait to see you again at Second Star!
