Mary Donaldson Lecture by Bill Waiser will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m.  This is a free public lecture.  The President's Reception will follow. 

Sask Book Awards Gala Tickets - win two
SLA Individual members are invited to enter a draw for 2 tickets to the SBA Gala on April 29th.  Draw will be held on April 21st.

Call for SLA Volunteers for Committees 
Each spring, SLA calls for volunteers to fill the committees as described in Section 5 of the Governance Handbook, and to actualize the work to achieve the strategic plan and the ongoing commitments of the organization.

Current committee members are invited to return to the committee on which they currently serve or to volunteer for a different committee.

Save Public Libraries
SLA continues to be seriously concerned about the provincial government's plan to cut funding to libraries and the subsequent impact on services and programs. SLA calls on the provincial government to find alternative solutions to maintain library funding at a sustainable level, SLA will continue to call for adequate funding for libraries and to support library workers. Atlantic Libraries stand with SLA over budget cuts
The Atlantic Provinces Library Association has joined other groups in expressing concern about the recent announcement of budget cuts to libraries in Saskatchewan and has sent an  open letter to Premier Wall asking him to reconsider the cuts. 

National Film Board and TD Summer Reading
The National Film Board (NFB) has compiled DVDs of films suitable for this year's TD SRC theme. Interested libraries can contact the NFB for free copies complete with the necessary public performance rights. In exchange for this free access, libraries screening these films will be required to share the total audience numbers for each screening with the NFB. Visit the website for more information.

Learn how research libraries are beginning to redefine their roles as producers and disseminators of open access learning materials in an EI webinar on April 25. The  presentation will share research and findings published in a white paper dedicated to open educational resources. Visit the online catalogue for upcoming webinars on a wide range of topics. LAC announces contract  with OCLC

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has signed an agreement 
for a new library management service with OCLC, the international non-profit library co-operative. Visit the website for more information.

SALT call for presenters
The Saskatchewan Association of Library Technicians (SALT) will hold its 
annual Fall Workshop on Friday September 22, 2017 at the Western
Development Museum in Saskatoon and has issued a  Call for Presenters for the workshop.
